A house that was being moved fell onto I-485 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday—and Twitter couldn't help but crack jokes.

Well, here's something you don't see every day.

A house fell and landed lengthwise, blocking busy highway traffic in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to Newsweek, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Public Transportation said that the agency's:

"Incident Management Assistance Program (IMAP) team was dispatched to I-485 Inner near Moores Chapel Road (Exit 12) about 10:35 a.m. after learning of a crash involving a tractor trailing hauling a mobile home."

The home wreck was the result of the tractor-trailer carrying the mobile home colliding with another vehicle, causing the massive cargo to fall off.

Local news reporter Joe Bruno of WSOC-TV reported about the incident and shared a photo.

He tweeted:

"On scene of the I-485 wreck."
"Cars are slowing passing the house on the shoulder. All minor injuries."

Bruno added follow-up tweets with more information.

Hunter Saenz of WSOC-TV also posted photos from a different vantage point and tweeted:

"Chopper 9 is over a crash involving a mobile home that was on the back of a tractor trailer. We can see 2 cars that the mobile home appears to have fallen on."
"Another has bad damage to the front of its car. On 485 inner loop at Moore's Chapel Rd."

Social media users couldn't resist cracking dad jokes.

Who knew that a 1982 song by British ska and pop band Madness would find literal relevance in the future?

Twitter was just getting started.

The obligatory references to the Wizard of Oz were made.

To be fair, it's a legitimate concern.

The spokesperson added that officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation anticipated the interstate to reopen later in the afternoon.

Now, that's life in the fast lane!

California Governor Gavin Newsom mocked Vice President JD Vance—and his love of couches—with an AI-generated video to troll him over the rising costs of goods due to President Donald Trump's retaliatory tariffs.

Earlier this week, Trump announced new tariffs: 10% on softwood timber and lumber, and 25% on “certain upholstered wooden products,” set to take effect October 14. The move follows Trump’s announcement last week of additional tariffs on kitchen cabinets, vanities, and other upholstered products, which will take effect October 1.

College Announcer Apologizes After Sparking Outrage With Body-Shaming Comment About Plus-Size Dance Team

In the United States, there are 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—schools founded when segregation laws and racist policies kept Black men and women from higher education. The schools developed their own unique culture and customs around stepping, marching band, drum majors, and majorettes.

HBCU majorettes march with the band, dance, and have stand battles during games. The dance style and moves are unique to Black culture, but have spread beyond the HBCUs to high schools and dance schools across the country.
