Trump's Commencement Speech Claim That The U.S. Is 'Hot' Right Now Turns Into Hilariously Brutal Self-Own
May 22, 2026
President Donald Trump's attempt to smear the Biden administration turned into a self-own while he spoke at the commencement ceremony for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy this week.
Trump spoke as several hundred protesters gathered outside Coast Guard Academy campus in New London, Connecticut. During the nearly hour-long address to cadets and their families, he alternated between praising the graduating class of 2026 and revisiting familiar themes about what he described as the country’s recovery after a period of decline.
At one point, he said:
"Our country is hot. I hate to say, it but I will. A year ago, a year and a half ago, two years ago, the last administration, we were a dead country. Right now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world.”
"We're respected all over the world. You saw that with China just recently, you saw that in Venezuela, and you saw that right now with Iran. Everything's gone: their Navy's gone, their Air Force is gone, just about everything."
"The only question is are we going to finish it up or are they going to be signing a document? Let's see what happens. But we're a hot country. We're the hottest country."
"We're the hottest country anywhere in the world. We're the strongest, most powerful military anywhere in the world. There's nobody close."
You can hear what Trump said in the video below.
But there's a problem with Trump's math basic math considering he referred to the U.S. as a “dead country” just “a year ago.”
Trump has already been back in office for roughly 16 months, meaning part of the period he was criticizing would have fallen under his own administration.
The mockery was swift.
Trump did something similar last month after he accidentally criticized his own presidency while attempting to criticize former President Joe Biden's presidency—seemingly forgetting that it wasn't Biden who was in office a year ago.
Trump, while discussing his "No Tax on Tips" policy, claimed the country was an "embarrassment" last year, adding that "All over the world, they laughed at us."
Considering it wasn't Biden who was in office a year ago, Trump might want to rethink who the "embarrassment" really is.

Dad Brutally Reviews Perfumes During Daughter's Birthday Party At Ulta In Hilarious Viral TikTok
May 21, 2026
For those who did not know, having a birthday party at Ulta Beauty is now a possibility. Complete with skincare sessions, mini-makeovers, discounts, and goodie bags, it's kind of perfect for teens and tweens who are enthusiastic about makeup and skincare.
But while the birthday party is going on, what is a bored parent to do?
For dad and TikToker Tim Richards, aka TikTokTimmay, the obvious solution was to stay in the store but also stay out of the way of the birthday party in progress, so he decided to wander around the perfume section, enlightening the TikTok community with his astutely hilarious and brutal reviews.
Richards confessed:
"My daughter's having a birthday party at Ulta. I have nowhere to go!"
"So, I'm smelling perfumes."
He started with a perfume by Sabrina Carpenter in a bright yellow bottle that looked like a candy bar.
"The Sabrina Carpenter 'Sweet Tooth Lemon Pie.'"
"Not a fan!"
Then there was a perfume from the popular Bridgerton line, whose title he read in an exaggerated British accent.
"Then there's the Bridgerton 'Dearest Revel Vanilla.'"
"This one is good!"

Fellow TikTokers were tickled by the dad keeping himself busy during the birthday party.

A few called him out, pointing out that he only shared two reviews, while they wanted more.

Prepared to please his growing TikTok community, Richards shared a follow-up video with a few more perfume reviews.
" Ariana Grande. 'Mod Blush.' This is really good."
"Marc Jacobs. 'Daisy Wild.' Not for me."
Then he held up an animal-shaped perfume bottle with an ombre rainbow finish. It was a squeeze-pump style perfume dispenser.
"I really wanted to try this one: 'Squishmallows: Whisked Away,' Tropical Sunset. I can't figure out how to work it!"
And finally:
" Billie Eilish. 'Your Turn II.' This is also really good!"
You can watch the follow-up video here:

Sometimes you have to stick around somewhere with nothing to do, and you have to get creative!
This dad absolutely had the right idea. Between wanting to encourage his daughter's love of makeup and his own enjoyment of fragrances, what could go wrong?

ChatGPT Response Appears To Make It Into School Textbook—And We're Doomed
May 21, 2026
Students are being actively discouraged from using ChatGPT and other AI-generation tools, as they are expected to learn their educational concepts and be able to put them into practice. They are also not supposed to use these tools while writing papers or during at-home tests.
Given how expensive grade school and college textbooks are, it is reasonable that educational writers and content professionals should be held to the same standards. Wouldn't it make sense for them to use the knowledge of their field, rather than what's been fed into ChatGPT, to make a textbook a worthwhile purchase for students?
But it seems a textbook writer did not see it that way, at least while writing a unit on database management systems (DBMS).
On a page discussing the specific breakdown of data tables, regarding what's contained in rows and columns, Redditor imfrom_mars_ discovered a ChatGPT response to a prompt that hadn't been deleted from a textbook they're using.
Looking at the entirety of the page, the writing and editing appear sloppy, as the formatting and writing style are deeply inconsistent.
And the icing on the weird-editing-choices cake is the ChatGPT response someone forgot to delete:
"If you want, I can also explain columns, primary keys, or other DBMS terms."
"Here is a clear and simple explanation of a Column in DBMS:"
You can see the photo of the textbook page here:

Redditors on the "India Tech" subReddit were frustrated that people would spend hard-earned money on this product.
"What's the point of buying these textbooks then?!"
"And if it's from a private publisher, it'll be costly, as well!" - Purple-Maybe-7637
"This is so sh*tty. We have to spend so much on these books, and then it's going to be filled with so many errors. The whole education system is dying." - Solid-Measurement-96
"No AI! At least not in textbooks!" - No-Formal2300
"Education is doomed if the younger generation has to study AI slop. No critical thinking, no realisation of facts, grim times ahead for sure!" - No_Chocolate_3292
"BOMBASTIC SIDE-EYE. It seems even the SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS are dependent on ChatGPT now?! We're doomed." - Large_a**2780
"Oh my GOD, is this real? They do proofread before publishing the book, right? How did this get missed? Is the editor named Claude?" - Fast-Enthusiasm-3137
"I can see it now: Author's bibliography: chat.openai.com." - Zealousidea_Owl1129
"Teachers are trying to call students so lazy for using these tools, and yet the PUBLISHERS are so lazy, they don't even..." - Adventurous-Peace15
"This is so disappointing. Maybe talk to your school about not using AI in books. They need to think about what they've done." - Objective_Squirrel87
"Yay! What a fun time to be alive! Fake textbooks! Fake education! Yay!" - Relevant-Criticism-8
There are inevitably going to be professionals in every industry who turn to ChatGPT and other similar platforms to minimize their workload, but there's something particularly nefarious about expecting students to pay for expensive textbooks when they could have just loaded their questions into ChatGPT instead.

Kacey Musgraves Sparks Backlash With Dismissive Response To Criticism That Her New Clothing Line Isn't Size-Inclusive
May 21, 2026
Kacey Musgraves' new Walmart collaboration was designed to bring her signature style to shoppers nationwide, but not everyone is feeling included. Shortly after the collection launched, critics questioned its size range—and Musgraves' response has since become a controversy of its own.
Reflecting on the partnership, Musgraves explained:
“The idea of this capsule excited me, not only because my middle name is Lee, but because it feels very nostalgic. I grew up wearing Lee, and I wear a lot of denim, vintage tees, and workwear, so this partnership felt like a natural fit.”
The 100-piece collection includes apparel, sleepwear, swimwear, accessories, and matching pet items inspired by Musgraves' dog, Pepper. Several pieces also reference the singer's Texas roots and her album Middle of Nowhere.
Not long after Kacey Lee launched on May 19, influencer Megan Ixim, who posts as @msgiggles on Instagram, shared a video questioning the collection's inclusivity.
Offering her take on the rollout, Ixim wrote:
"Guess who's being excluded again? That's right, fat people. But don't worry, they are selling extended sizes, but online.”
Ixim, a body-acceptance advocate and fashion creator who frequently discusses size inclusivity online, also pointed to Musgraves' September 2024 collaboration with Reformation as another example of what she viewed as limited extended-size availability.
Explaining why the issue frustrated her, Ixim said:
"I personally find this really upsetting because plus sizes and not selling them at Walmart seems really silly to me. I feel like that's somewhere, historically, we've always found plus sizes."
She added, "I'm disappointed. Kacey, what's going on?"
You can watch her review here:
Neither Walmart nor Lee has publicly commented on the criticism. Musgraves, however, responded in the video's comment section.
She wrote in the comment section of the video:
“Hiii not in my control at all. Sorry you’re disappointed. Hope this helps! 🩷”
Rather than settling the debate, the comment sparked another round of criticism, with some users arguing that the response felt dismissive.
Pushing back on the comment, Ixim replied:
"As the person who is the entire reason and face of this launch it feels like this would be something you could push back on to @walmart or to @leejeans your plus-size fans love you, and we want to have our moment in the sun supporting you, in store, just like everyone else."
The exchange quickly divided commenters. Some thanked Ixim for raising the issue and drawing attention to the shopping experience available to plus-size customers. Others defended Musgraves, arguing that decisions about size availability were likely made by Lee or Walmart, not by the singer herself.
You can view the mixed reactions below:

Despite the criticism, the launch has also attracted plenty of enthusiastic shoppers who praise the collection's vintage-inspired aesthetic and accessible price point.
You can view Musgraves' post about the collection here:
While Kacey Lee spans more than 100 pieces, the conversation surrounding the launch has increasingly focused on who gets to participate in the experience equally. For Ixim and others raising concerns, the issue isn't simply whether extended sizes exist online—it's whether all shoppers have the same opportunity to find the collection in stores.

Jack Osbourne Responds To Trolls Who Claim He Looks 'Grossly Underweight' With Fiery Clapback Video
May 21, 2026
Content Warning: body-shaming, weight-shaming
Some people really wouldn't be able to recognize Bruce Wayne and Batman, or Clark Kent and Superman, as the same person, and that fact has never been more evident than with the internet trolls who are thrown off by a haircut.
Throughout most of 2026, Jack Osbourne has been criticized in the media for his appearance, with some going so far as to call him "grossly underweight" and sharing overly concerned, if not degrading, comments on his videos and posts.
Osbourne finally had enough of fielding the commentary and posted a video on Instagram, clapping back at all of the internet trolls who clearly needed to work on their observational skills.
Osbourne, clearly furious, stated:
"I cannot believe I'm having to actually make this f**king video."
"If I see one more article written about me, saying how I'm sick, grossly underweight, what's going on, health crisis..."
"It's f**king insane."
Osbourne then gave everyone a much-needed reality check.
"I have lost no weight since I got out of the jungle, doing 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'"
"So, since six months ago, I've been the same f**king weight."
"The only difference is I shaved my beard and opted for a creepy mustache."
"Now, if we wanna back up and get real f**king personal, I've been consistently but slowly losing weight for the last three and a half years."
"I shot up to about 220 pounds three and a half years ago, and I decided I wanted to make some changes, so I did."
"What's the big f**king deal?"
"I'm five-foot, eight-and-a-half feet tall, and I'm 155 pounds. That is perfectly healthy!"
Osbourne was totally fed up.
"The fact that I even have to say this is f**king insane."
"My entire life, I was just brutalized by the media about being overweight."
"And now that I get down to a healthy weight, now I'm criticized even more?"
About midway through the video, Osbourne focused his frustrations on one specific female reporter who'd written repeatedly about his appearance. In his video, Osbourne criticized her in return, alluding to her eating habits and her gym habits based on her appearance.
You can watch the video here:
Fans applauded Osbourne and reassured him that his health wasn't anyone else's business.

@jackosbourne/Instagram

Even if the comments came from a place of genuine concern for Osbourne's well-being, there may have been a kinder and more open-minded way to address those concerns. But at the end of the day, it was no one's business but Osbourne's, and if he's comfortable in his body and his doctors are happy with his health, that's really all that mattered.
