A woman recorded a video to capture her initial reactions to what she thought was a long love letter from her boyfriend.

Giddy with anticipation to read it, she didn't realize there was a sad plot twist.

The seven-page letter was a long break-up note.

TikToker Karla @karlavelarde1234 filmed herself leafing through the pages of the stapled letter placed on her bed.

“When you get home and your sweetie writes you a whole book of a love letter," she said in the video, adding, “Oh my God, it’s like seven pages or something.”

The text overlay in the video read:

“Me being excited thinking my boyfriend wrote me a love letter but he said surprise it’s a breakup letter."

As of this writing, her viral clip received over 4 million views.

The comments section was flooded with various responses ranging from criticism for the note's grammatical format and Karla's initial jumping to conclusions.

In response to a question from a user, Karla explained why she decided to make the video.

“I was so excited that he had finally put the work in. The let down."

Another speculated he must have respected her enough to put so much care into his letter.

When they asked what exactly was being expressed in the note, she responded:

"He told me a surprise was awaiting me home …but no it was a breakup letter and a magic trick looking suitcase with all my sh*t in it."

Karla noted there wasn't anything specific she could think of that might have led to him calling it quits. "Funny thing was nothing no arguments I was being nothing but sweet he said I was so kind," she wrote.

Some TikTokers tried to cheer her up by grading the ex's paper.

Karla posted a follow-up video explaining how her ex had tried to match up with her friend on the dating app, Raya.

Adding insult to injury, the profile pic of the ex was the one Karla had taken a few days prior to his penning the separation dissertation.

The ex also apparently tried to hook up with Karla's roommate.

The text overlay in that clip read:

"When he tries to matching with your roommate but she reports him for being fake."
