She said:

“You know today is special because today... I am the mayor."
“This is my gratitude tour."
"I don’t take any of this for granted. I know after 25 years, I’m still able to do what I love is because of your loyalty because of your prayers. I’m so grateful for y’all.”

She played into it, later asking the audience to chant, "Say hey, Mayor Carter!"

She even posted a picture on Instagram of herself next to her honorary mayoral plaque.

You can see it below.

Fans loved it, of course, adding to the celebratory nature of the occasion.

Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor praised Beyoncé for her dedication to "championing marginalized communities" globally through her artistry and humanitarian work. The mayor's press release highlighted Beyoncé's significant impact on both the music industry and her philanthropic endeavors.

Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, accepted the honorary mayoral plaque on the singer's behalf during a meeting held by the city council.

Noel-Schure thanked everyone present, adding that she's "worked with Beyoncé now for close to 27 years" and that it brings her "great joy to see her still being recognized for her contribution to the arts and society at large.”

MAGA Rep. Dragged After Claiming Bad Bunny's Halftime Show Depicted 'Gay Pornography'

Tennessee Republican Representative Andy Ogles was widely mocked after he claimed Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show was "pure smut" that depicted "gay pornography"—even going so far as to write a letter to the Energy and Commerce Committee demanding "a formal congressional inquiry" into the "indecent broadcast."

The rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, delivered a largely Spanish-language show that has been hailed as a "love letter to Puerto Rico" and that drew from his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year just a week ago.

Amber Glenn, the first openly queer woman to represent the U.S. in figure skating, spoke out in an Instagram post about the torrent of threats she's received after criticizing President Donald Trump's treatment of the LGBTQ+ community.
