Legendary pilot, Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his miracle landing by asking people to share their own #MiracleMoment.
Ten years ago, US Airways Flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia Airport and mere moments later the aircraft collided with a group of birds causing the engines to fail.
Captain Sully did not feel as though the aircraft could make it back to LaGuardia.
He was faced with the options of landing in a small, private airport in New Jersey or landing in the Hudson River.
Feeling as though the New Jersey airport was too far, Sully chose to land in the water.
The captain was able to successfully land the aircraft with no fatalities and only 5 serious injuries.
People called the incident the Miracle on the Hudson.
The flight was originally intended for Charlotte, North Carolina, and the aircraft is now on display at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte.
To celebrate the decade anniversary of the miracle, Captain Sully asked Twitter to share their own #Miracle Moments.
His tweet refers to the Carolinas Air Museum Twitter account which went on to ask people for their #MiracleMoments on January 15th.
People everywhere are sharing their own life-altering moments to celebrate Sully's heroic landing.
Others took the opportunity to thank Sully, his flight crew and pilots everywhere.
In 2016, Sully's bravery was made into a film (Sully) starring Tom Hanks, directed by Clint Eastwood.
