The man was able to get his girlfriend's father's blessing just days before he passed away—and it made for a very emotional proposal.

Marriage proposals are arguably one of the most special moments that a couple will share, so it's important for a proposal to be thoughtful, personal, and memorable.

And one man recently achieved that, according to a video shared on TikTok.

Before his future wife, Emily's, father passed away, the unnamed man approached him to get his blessing for their marriage that would happen after he had passed away.

And Emily's father happily obliged.

Emily's future husband presented a video to Emily, which contained simple slides and a transcription of Emily's father's blessing, which was captured in a voice-over.

Her dad passed away but he was still able to get his blessing 🥺 #viral #proposal #couplegoals #hearttouching @Reclip

Emily's father stated in the video:

"Son, you’ve got my permission as much as I can give it to you in this short time I have left on this Earth. I know you love Emily, and I know you’ll take care of her. God bless you and you have my blessing, son.'"

As Emily listened to her father's blessing of her future marriage, she became overcome with emotion and cupped her hands over her mouth.

Behind her, Emily's future husband got down on one knee with a ring.

When Emily turned around and noticed him, he stated:

"I know how important it was to you for me to get your father’s permission, and I was able to get that just a few weeks ago. Will you marry me?”

To this, Emily was quick to say yes.

The video received tremendous attention with 17.5 million views, 2.5 million likes, and over 12 thousand comments on TikTok's platform alone.

Though getting someone's blessing or being walked down the aisle to be "given away" on their wedding day is fairly antiquated and not everyone's goal anymore, there are some people who still place great value in these gestures and see them as important features on their wedding day.

TikTok could understand how important this was to Emily and what a gesture it was from her future husband.

TikTokers were brought to tears over the video.

It's almost hard to decide who was more touched by the quality of this man's proposal: his future wife or the rest of the internet.

But it's certain that a new standard has been set for unique and special engagement plans!
