Oath Keeper Lawyer's Virtual Background For Jan. 6 Testimony Has Twitter Doing A Double Take

Kellye SoRelle, the acting president of the Oath Keepers, the far-right anti-government militia whose members participated in the attack on the United States Capitol, sparked laughter on social media after she used a green screen background from Netflix's Queer Eye while testifying remotely before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 insurrection.

The image was first highlighted by political columnist and podcaster Erin Ryan, who hosts Hysteria on the Crooked Media podcast network and regularly contributes to The Daily Beast.

Ryan noted that SoRelle had green-screened herself in front of an image of a loft-kitchen the hosts of Queer Eye had redesigned in Kansas City, Missouri during the show's third season.

You can see it below.

Queer Eye, which debuted to rave reviews in 2018, is a reboot of the Bravo eponymous series, featuring a new "Fab Five": Antoni Porowski, food and wine expert; Tan France, fashion expert; Karamo Brown, culture expert; Bobby Berk, design expert; and Jonathan Van Ness, grooming expert.

Each episode features the hosts using their expertise to transform the lifestyle – from clothing choices to even the design of their homes – of individuals who need a confidence boost and want to improve their overall quality of life.

According to People, which reviewed the episode in which the loft kitchen appears after the show's third season premiered in 2019, the kitchen features "six brown and black bar stools lined up at the eat-in counter and patterned wallpaper on the wall."

The image quickly went viral and social media users couldn't resist making quips.

The image is particularly notable because the Oath Keepers – whose more prominent members, including leader Stewart Rhodes, were indicted for seditious conspiracy in January 2022 as part of the January 6 investigation – have received criticism for being a homophobic, racist, and fascist organization.

The Oath Keepers have regularly appeared at events in the company of the Proud Boys, the Boogaloo Boies, the Three Percenters, all groups that have been designated hate groups and terrorist entities by foreign governments and organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is known for its legal cases against white supremacist groups as well as for its classification of hate groups and other extremist organizations.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
