Uh-oh.

Former President Jimmy Carter was the last Democratic candidate to win the red state of Texas. That was in 1976. However, shifting demographics coupled with the neck-and-neck senate race between Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke (which Cruz eventually won) indicate that the once-deep red state may be shifting to a shade of blue.

Now, A new poll from Emerson College is indicating the same. The poll examines Trump's possible performance in Texas against the leading Democratic candidates for president in 2020—and it turns out the state isn't as safe as some Republicans may think.

The poll shows former Vice President Joe Biden earning 50 percent of the Texas vote to Trump's 49, with candidate Beto O'Rourke showing similar results in his home state. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) lose by two percent and six percent respectively—both within the poll's margin of error.

Texas was becoming less and less of a safe bet for the Republican party even before the 2018 midterms. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney bested former President Barack Obama in the state by 16 points in 2012. Former Secretary of State and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton lost to Trump by nine points in the state in 2016.

The results have heartened Democrats across the country.

While the Emerson poll is undoubtedly good news, people are stressing the importance of proceeding with caution.

The poll interviewed 799 voters and Emerson College has a B+ rating from FiveThirtyEight.

Tucker Carlson Dragged After Offering Truly Bonkers Theory For Why Trump Captured Nicolás Maduro

Former Fox News host turned far-right podcaster Tucker Carlson raised eyebrows after he claimed that President Donald Trump captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro in order to bring same-sex marriage to the people of a country now in a dangerous state of flux after the U.S. invaded.

Weirdly, he claimed “pro-gay forces” were secretly driving regime change, pointing to Nobel Peace Prize recipient and opposition leader María Corina Machado's support for same-sex marriage. He suggested this is proof that "globo homo," his term for progressive liberal elites, are hard at work.

Married People Explain How Often They Take Their Wedding Ring Off

When two people get married, there's an assumption that others tend to make: that the couple will wear their wedding rings no matter what, and if they don't, it's a sign of a troubled marriage and a lack of commitment.

But there are lots of reasons not to wear wedding rings full-time, from cleanliness to safety to health concerns.
