Madison Cawthorn's Tweet About Missing When America Was 'Feared' Turns Into Glorious Self-Own

North Carolina Republican Representative and Hitler hobbyist Madison Cawthorn is once again in hot water after an ill-conceived tweet blew up in his face.

Presumably in reference to the United States' response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Russia's unnerving threats of retaliation against us, Cawthorn tweeted a bit of rueful nostalgia about the days when the U.S.'s "adversaries" wouldn't have dared to challenge American supremacy.

But he seemed to have forgotten that he is heavily implicated in the planning of the events surrounding the January 6, 2021 insurrection—which would make he himself an "adversary" of America. Oops.

See his tweet below.

Cawthorn tweeted:

"I miss when America was feared by our adversaries."

But when it comes to America's adversaries, there's a fairly substantial likelihood his tweet is a pot-kettle-black situation.

As a bombshell report last October in Rolling Stonemagazine revealed, Cawthorn is heavily implicated in the planning of pro-Trump and Stop the Steal rallies. This includes the one led on January 6 by former Republican President Donald Trump and at which Cawthorn spoke, that eventually ended with a call to storm the Capitol.

Two people involved in the planning who are cooperating with federal investigations into the January 6 coup attempt described to Rolling Stone the "dozens" of planning meetings they attended led by members of Congress and White House Staff. Included in their list of members taking lead roles in the planning was Cawthorn.

Cawthorn is so intricately implicated in the events of January 6 that a group of lawyers is trying to bar him from running for reelection in the fall on the basis of a part of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which bans the holding of office by anyone "engaged in insurrection."

The anti-American allegations swirling around Cawthorn seemed to weigh heavily on the minds of people on Twitter, who clapped back at his tweet loud and hard.

It will be interesting to see how this tweet ages once the January 6 indictments start. Time will tell.
