CNN Anchor Perfectly Shames Kayleigh McEnany After She Claimed to Be 'Shocked' by Jan. 6th Violence

CNN Anchor Perfectly Shames Kayleigh McEnany After She Claimed to Be 'Shocked' by Jan. 6th Violence

Like former President Donald Trump's other three White House Press Secretaries, Kayleigh McEnany's tenure in the Trump administration was defined by her willingness to amplify Trump's lies from a national podium.

Trump's lies that Democrats stole the 2020 election from him were no different. McEnany not only defended these lies in her professional capacity, but amplified them in GOP press conferences as well, in a likely violation of the Hatch Act.

As history will remember, these lies eventually prompted a mob of pro-Trump extremists to storm the United States Capitol in hopes of overturning the election in Trump's favor. Their actions resulted in the deaths of five people and endangered every lawmaker in the building.

This week, the conservative Fox News channel announced that McEnany would be joining the network as a contributor.

In one of her first appearances, McEnany claimed that Trump and his administration were expecting nothing but peaceful demonstrations that day.

McEnany said:

"At the beginning of the day, before everyone went to the rally, everyone was expecting peace. We'd been to hundreds of rallies ... and they were nothing but peaceful events, and we expected that day to be the same. And then as those events transpired it was disbelief, shock, somber, sad horrified by the violence. It was a very hard, difficult day in the White House, there is no doubt."

In reality, Trump waited hours to denounce the violence and even longer before telling his supporters to vacate the Capitol. Reports emerged in the days following that Trump was downright gleeful to see the chaos he'd instigated. The former President mocked House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as he begged for assistance.

For this reason, CNN anchor Brianna Keilar—famous for routinely calling out the lies of GOP officials—wasn't buying McEnany's characterization of the events.

In a lengthy rebuttal of McEnany's claims, Keilar said:

"When the grenade that you've been helping build for months finally explodes in your face, that is just inevitable."

Keilar pointed out warnings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) ahead of the riots that pro-Trump extremists would unleash "war" upon D.C. What's more, CNN covered the extensive security preparations ahead of the demonstrations Trump had promoted.

Keilar then pointed to McEnany's own culpability:

"And what did Kayleigh McEnany expect would happen when she personally and baselessly alleged for months before the election that there were widespread problems with the election and pushed the 'big lie' for two months after Election Day?"

People praised the CNN anchor for the segment.

And she was far from the only one to push back against the claims.

McEnany may be beloved in the Fox News sphere, but it doesn't seem like she'll be welcome in mainstream political circles for some time.

'Dr. Pimple Popper' Star Reveals She Suffered Stroke While Filming Series: 'I Had A Part Of My Brain That Died'

It's already scary to witness a younger person go through a life-changing medical diagnosis, but it's especially jarring to see a medical professional, who presumably knows best about how to care for themselves, go through the same.

Sandra Lee, known as "Dr. Pimple Popper" on Lifetime, is well-known for her bedside manner, medical knowledge and ability to share her knowledge in an accessible way, and, of course, her unique approach to dermatological care.

Rob Schneider Dragged For Criticizing Elizabeth Banks' 'Dangerous Rhetoric' After She Called Out White Female Trump Voters

After actor and filmmaker Elizabeth Banks—who played Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games—called out white women who voted for President Donald Trump, MAGA actor Rob Schneider lashed out against what he referred to as her "dangerous rhetoric."

Those who've read the book and seen the film adaptation of The Hunger Games know that Trinket—known for joyfully announcing, "Happy Hunger Games and the odds may be ever in your favor!"—is a mistress of propaganda for a hostile government that forces teenagers to fight to the death every year to intimidate critics and keep society's poorest and most vulnerable in line. Trinket eventually embraces the rebellion.

Kid Rock Dragged After Offering Massive Discount To His MAGA Festival Due To Abysmal Ticket Sales

Musician Kid Rock has hitched his wagon to president Donald Trump for quite some time now, and it seems he too is in the "find out" stage of that particularly exercise in FAFO.

It seems that when the president you form your entire personality around craters to a catastrophic approval rating even for him, your ship starts to sink too.

Army Secretary Sparks Outrage After Shutting Down Army Social Media Accounts For Honoring Tammy Duckworth's Military Service

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is facing heavy criticism after he ordered that all accounts associated with the Army unit "Soldier for Life" (SFL) be shut down after the unit shared a post on social media celebrating Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth's military service.

Trump's Border Czar Ripped For Hypocrisy After Telling Pope Leo To 'Stay Out Of Politics'

President Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan was called out for hypocrisy after telling Pope Leo XIV to "stay out of politics" after he clashed with Trump over the widely unpopular war in Iran.

Last week, Pope Leo criticized the war and called on the world "to reject war, especially a war which many people have said is an unjust war, which is continuing to escalate and is not resolving anything."
