On Monday, comedian and Actress Kathy Griffin shared she is battling lung cancer and is going into surgery.

Griffin shared the news in a photo on Twitter which now has over 86 thousand likes.

60-year-old Kathy Griffin's tweet said:

"I've got to tell you guys something. I have cancer."
"I'm about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed."
"Yes, I have lung cancer even though I've never smoked!"

She shared the doctors are optimistic as they caught the cancer in stage one. With the surgery, she hopes to avoid chemotherapy and radiation all together.

Griffin continued:

"I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less."

Griffin has been trying to get back on the comedy stages since she was blacklisted in Hollywood over the photo of her holding a likeness of then-President Trump's severed head.

She noted:

"It's been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I'm gonna be just fine."

Griffin ended her announcement by sharing she is fully vaccinated and not being so would make matters more serious.

She ended with:

"Please stay up to date on your medical check ups."
"It'll save your life."

Many people on Twitter have poured their love for her in the comments, some even sharing their own stories.

Griffin sat down with Nightline co-anchor Juju Chang to share her diagnosis just days after hearing the news herself.

In the interview, she recalled:

"As a friend of mine had said, 'How many kicks in the nuts can you take?'"

"And I'm like 'my nuts are pretty strong, but it's a challenge'."

She continued:

"I was definitely in shock."
"I'm still a little bit in shock, not denial, but once a day I'll turn to somebody and be like, 'Can you believe this shit? Is this a bitch or what?'"

Griffin had been hospitalized just last year for abdominal pain she thought was related to COVID, but it turned out to be an abdominal infection.

We hope Griffin has a speedy recovery.
