Fox News Is Outraged Over A Video Of Mamdani Taking Bicycle Safety Seriously By Buying A Helmet—Because Of Course They Are

After New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared a video of himself taking citizens' concern over his lack of a bicycle helmet seriously by promising to wear one, Fox News somehow turned it into an example of Mamdani "laughing in the face" of "legitimately scared" New Yorkers.

Fox News was widely mocked after running a segment criticizing New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for sharing a video of himself taking citizens' concern over his lack of a bicycle helmet seriously by promising to wear one.

Mamdani is a familiar sight cycling around New York City in his trademark suit and tie. But he has also been conspicuously missing a helmet, something constituents have complained about on social media.

Rather than dismissing the criticism, Mamdani acknowledged it in a new video, saying,

“You’re right. I’ve got to do better.”

He then unveiled a new bike helmet, signaling that he had taken the feedback seriously.

You can see the video below.

The decision to wear a helmet while cycling has been statistically shown to significantly reduce the risk of serious injury—but Fox News somehow found a way to complain about the video anyway.

Network host Sean Hannity discussed the video with his colleague Tomi Lahren. Hannity cracked that Mamdani "needs the bike because there's no free bus," repeating a common GOP talking point about one of the democratic socialist's most popular proposals.

But Lahren went further, calling Mamdani's public safety announcement "insulting" and ranting about communism:

"Communism with a smile. That's what all these influencers who get elected into office, that's primarily how they get there, right? Because they can put a smile on socialism and communism and they can laugh off safety."
"I think it's also insulting to the New Yorkers out there that are legitimately worried about their physical safety not because of lack of a bike helmet but just because of the state of New York City, and the safety problems that especially exist for Jewish New Yorkers."
"The fact that he thinks that all we need to do to keep New Yorkers and New York City safe is give Mamdani a bike helmet. He's laughing in the face of all the people that are legitimately scared, all the people that are riding the subways, that are in the parks, they are worried about the homeless crisis, the drug crisis, you name it, and he puts on a helmet and makes a TikTok video and he thinks he's solved everything."
"This is the problem. There are so many people who are habitually online, they see a funny little video, they see a young man with a nice smile, and it's palatable to them. Beware of this. When AOC runs for president in 2028, she's going to do the same."

You can hear what she said in the video below.

It was ridiculous even for Fox.

The network's fearmongering has reached an all new low.
