A California guidance counselor proved this week not all school counselors are positive role models.
Yuba High School counselor Todd Tyler was arrested after leaving threatening, homophobic and racist voicemails for softball coaches at Marysville High School, a neighboring school where his children are students. Police also reported they discovered a loaded gun in the center console of Tyler's car during his arrest.
Tyler was reportedly upset about a position his daughters played during a softball scrimmage.
Tyler called his daughter's softball coach, Maurice Clavelle, over 20 times and left 10 voicemails. Tyler is reported to have called another coach multiple times as well.
In his messages to Clavelle, Tyler invoked violence, threatening to track Clavelle down and saying he looked forward to "splittin' your face in half." The messages also contained racial slurs and homophobic language.
"We were at a loss for words, like, is this real? This is coming out of his mouth?" said Maurice's wife, Michelle Clavelle.
Maurice Clavelle expressed fear for his own safety and for his family's during an interview with local news station, KCRA.
"This man should not be working for a school district. Period," he said.

Tyler was placed on administrative leave following his arrest.
The Yuba City Unified School District released a statement condemning Tyler's behavior saying:
"The actions described as leading to the arrest are reprehensible and deeply troubling."
"They are entirely at odds with who we are as a school district and as educators."
