Gabourey Sidibe Explains Why She Refuses To Throw Lavish Birthday Parties For Her Twins—And She's Got A Point

The Precious star hilariously explained to talk show host Sherri Shepherd why she won't be throwing expensive birthday parties for her infant twins—and fans totally get it.

Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe is very excited to celebrate her twins' first birthday alongside her husband, Brandon Frankel, but she isn't being precious about hosting an actual birthday party.

While on the Sherri daytime television show opposite Sherri Shepherd, Sidibe opened up about her relationship with her husband, her time filming Precious, and of course, the joys of pregnancy, motherhood, and her beautiful "cinnamon baby" twins.

With their first birthday coming up, it was only natural for Shepherd and Sidibe to discuss any birthday plans she had up her sleeve, but refreshingly, the mom pointed out that there's a big difference between celebrating someone's existence and throwing a party for it.

Sidibe pointed out:

"We are one hundred percent going to celebrate them, but we want to celebrate them with an experience. We want to take them to the zoo or to the aquarium."
"But they're not going to remember a party!"
"By the time our kids are three, that's probably going to be their first party. But right now, they don't have friends. They're not going to remember a party."

More important, she said that at this age a child's birthday party is more for their parents and adult friends.

So hosting a birthday party despite the parents not being "party people" would make even less sense.

"And to be fair, they had to trick me into having a baby shower! I don't like parties."
"I get wanting to celebrate for the parents and stuff, but I don't like that many people in my house."
"My husband is also not a party person."

Fans completely agreed with Gabourey Sidibe and had no notes.

It's lovely that parents want to throw big celebrations for their children at every age, but Gabourey Sidibe made such an important point here about the social lives and memories of young children: these parties are more so for the adults, and the children will not remember the party anyway!

It's a great idea to take young children out for experiences, especially places like the aquarium that are so visually and mentally stimulating for them. The big party can wait until the kids are older and can invite friends they've made.

As MAGA Republican President Donald Trump continues to transform the White House into something befitting the Trump name—tacky, tasteless, and slathered in gold—Emmy Award winning actor William Daniels urged people to reflect on what they've lost.

Sharing a photo with Ken Howard as Thomas Jefferson, Howard da Silva as Ben Franklin, and Daniels as John Adams from the film 1776, the actor recalled performing in the now demolished theatre at the White House for Republican President Richard Nixon in 1970.

Casey, an eagle-eyed TikToker who posts videos under the username @mamasissiesays, had social media users buzzing in a resurfaced video from last year investigating whether Vice President JD Vance actually wears eyeliner. At the very end of the video, Casey even shared that she believes she found the exact shade he prefers.

Casey posted the video amid intense rumors about Vance's eyeliner use. An investigation by Slate implied that Vance’s long eyelashes and hooded eyelids likely create some conveniently placed shadows. Single MAGA Women Complain That D.C.'s Conservative Dating Scene Lacks 'Masculine' Men—And We're Cackling

Social media users pounced with jokes after MAGA women spoke to the Washington Post and the New York Times about the lack of "masculine" men in Washington, D.C., which is hilarious for a party pretty much obsessed with the way "real men" act.

The notion that masculinity is being attacked–namely by the left wing–is a popular one among Republicans such as Missouri Senator Josh Hawley, who once accused "the Left" of hurting "the future of the American man" and went on to claim the "deconstruction of America begins with and depends on the deconstruction of American men."
