Fans stood up for the actor after her 'partying' was supposedly the cause behind her divorce from the musician.

The news of Joe Jonas' split from Sophie Turner spread like wildfire after TMZ reported on Sunday that the two were headed for divorce.

Sure enough, on Tuesday the singer filed for divorce from his wife of four years, stating their marriage had been "irretrievably broken."

As the story gained traction, various reasons for the two parting ways were exposed amongst several media outlets, with most accounts placing blame on Turner for her "partying."

A source told TMZ:

"She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles."

They also reported Jonas "has been taking care of the children pretty much all of the time over the last 3 months."

As the rumors made their way through the interwebs, many fans called out the reports which drastically contradicted the couple's documented lifestyle over the course of their relationship.

Several referenced the actor's 2020 interview with Conan O'Brien in which Turner revealed she was delighted over having to self-isolate despite the COVID-19 lockdown being "like prison" for Jonas.

She told O'Brien:

"I'm an introvert. I'm a homebody."
"I'm just like, if I could stay home all day, I would, so this is great for me."
"I leave the house, like, once a day anyway, to walk my dogs, and then that's it."

Turner then shared that staying at home was a struggle for Jonas.

"Everything seems to be working out in my favor here because Joe's a real social butterfly, so I struggle to lock him down and have him just spend time with me."
"It's like prison for him, but it's great for me."

Many agreed that the tales being told about Turner did not track.

Others called out the "sources" for attempting to paint Turner in a bad light and glamorize Jonas for taking care of his children...as a father should.

On Wednesday, Jonas and Turner issued a joint statement via Turner's Instagram acknowledging the "speculative narratives" but claiming the separation was a mutual decision.

"After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage."
"There are many speculative narrative as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

We wish them both the best.
