Tucker Carlson Dragged After His Conspiracy Theory Prediction About Trump's Speech Is Way Off

Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson made a bold prediction about what President Trump would announce during his primetime address to the nation on Wednesday—and he wasn't even close.

Former Fox News personality turned far-right podcaster Tucker Carlson was widely mocked after he made a bold prediction about what President Donald Trump would announce during his primetime address to the nation on Wednesday—namely that the U.S. would go to war with Venezuela.

But it turns out Carlson was very, very wrong. The speech was nowhere near that consequential and Trump spent the majority of it complaining about former President Joe Biden.

Trump, who rambled for more than 15 minutes, claimed he "inherited a mess, and I'm fixing it," and aired complaints about what he called migrant “invasions,” violent crime, and transgender rights. Throughout the speech he cast blame on Biden, past trade agreements, immigrants, and what he characterized as a deeply corrupt system.

Trump's remarks came against the backdrop of the Department of Defense's attacks on alleged drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean. His administration has also raised tensions since seizing a ship transporting Venezuelan oil last week, with plans to intercept more.

And Carlson, speaking to Andrew Napolitano on the Judging Freedom podcast, appeared pretty convinced that Trump's speech would not be so... mundane:

“Here’s what I know so far, which is that members of Congress were briefed yesterday that a war is coming and it’ll be announced in the address to the nation tonight at 9 o’clock by the president."
"Who knows, by the way, if that will actually happen. I don’t know, and I never want to overstate what I know, which is pretty limited in general, but a member of Congress told me that this morning.”

You can hear Carlson's remarks in the video below.

He couldn't have been more wrong—and he was resoundingly mocked for it.

In a social media post earlier this week, Trump said Venezuela "is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the History of South America," vowing "it will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before."

The president has further alleged Venezuela is using its oil revenues to bankroll drug trafficking and other criminal activity, and vowed to maintain the U.S. military buildup until Caracas hands over oil, land, and other assets. He did not explain on what basis he believes the United States is entitled to claim those resources.

But this is Trump we're talking about after all—and Carlson got played like a fiddle.

Stay-At-Home Mom Offers Dire Warning For Other Moms After Husband Suddenly Files For Divorce

We've all heard the advice to not put all of our eggs in one basket, and while we generally think of that in terms of work, so that if one form of income dries up, we'll have a backup plan, it can apply to our relationships, too.

While it's perfectly okay to be in a monogamous relationship, we shouldn't place all of our happiness in our partner, or measure our sense of self-worth solely through the relationship, and it can be risky to fully depend on our partners financially.
