Brian Williams Epically Trolls Trump And McCarthy With 'Exclusive' Clip Of Their Mar-A-Lago Meeting
MSNBC

You know your country's political situation has gone fully absurd when even seasoned news anchors are trolling the former President during a live newscast

At first, MSNBC's Brian Williams' report on former Republican President Donald Trump's meeting with one of his most dedicated sycophants, Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California, started off as usual. Until it came time for the "exclusive" footage from the meeting, that is.

Instead of the footage, Williams cut to a classic scene of Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger expressing their undying love to each other in Jerry Maguire.

The internet is absolutely loving the epic troll.

The Jerry Maguire clip Williams used to troll the two politicians features Cruise and Zellweger reconciling after a falling out and pledging their love to each other with the iconic lines, "You complete me" and "You had me at hello."

The segment came on the heels of Congressman McCarthy traveling to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump to discuss strategy for the 2022 midterm elections next year.

McCarthy, one of Trump's most ardent supporters, recently changed his tune on the former President in the wake of the January 6 violence at the U.S. Capitol, which many people including several Republican politicians, believe Trump incited. McCarthy even made public statements in the wake of the riot to that effect.

But now, given his pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to, as Williams described it, "kiss the ring... [of] the deposed former president," it would seem all is forgiven. Hence Williams's portraying McCarthy as a groveling Tom Cruise.

Of course, Williams gamely committed to the bit by playing it off as a simple mistake.

Even one of Williams' guests, writer and commentator Baratunde Thurston, couldn't hold in his laughter, telling Williams:

"...I'm mad at you right now for making me break so much."

On Twitter people could not get enough of this troll of the former POTUS.

All hail Brian Williams, 2021's first troll king.

Lauren Boebert Casts Doubt On Moon Landing During Wild Interview With Conspiracy Theorist

Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert was criticized after she seemingly agreed with the conspiracy theory that the moon landing was faked in a wide-ranging interview with conservative conspiracy theorist Alex Stein.

The segment began with the duo casting doubt on nuclear weapons—Boebert even joked about needing "tin foil"—and moved into weirder territory when Stein praised Boebert for "vibing" with him on the topic of the moon landing. Conspiracy theorists have long alleged the moon landing was fabricated by NASA in what they claim was an elaborate hoax.
