A woman on TikTok was shocked to find a variety of racist figurines and art at a recent estate sale in Alabama.
Creator Kennedy Synclaire (@shopsecondhand) documented her perusal of the items for sale, which began innocently enough with multiple pieces of framed art and decor of former presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
But then, the video featuring the text overlay, "NOTHING could have prepared me for what I walked into at this estate sale," took a turn as Synclaire zoomed in on items such as racist paintings of Black people holding watermelons as well as multiple minstrel figurines and dolls.
In the caption, Synclaire wrote:
“Never get too comfortable living in Alabama."
She added that "NONE" of the racist items were featured on the website promoting the estate sale.

Synclaire did post a follow-up after revealing in the comments that she actually bought something.

She explained that she was after a pair of vintage Ralph Lauren cowboy boots she saw on the website. After locating them but finding they weren't her size, she took a stroll through the rest of the house, which in retrospect, she acknowledged was a huge mistake.
Synclaire noted that people at the sale were absolutely after those items and she was very uncomfortable being in the vicinity.
But she did share her bag of goodies she walked away with for just $12, though, she added, should have been free "for the amount of trauma [she] went through.”
