Elon Musk Trolled AOC's Tweet Critizing His Takeover Of Twitter—So She Trolled Him Right Back

The back and forth between New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elon Musk on Twitter went viral as users found comedic relief as Musk's attempt to troll AOC went belly up.

It all started when Representative Ocasio-Cortez tweeted:

"Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform and skews it because Tucker Carlson or Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him feel special."

In response, Musk commented—with a blushing emoji:

"Stop hitting on me, I’m really shy. ☺️"

The Congresswoman clapped back:

“I was talking about Zuckerberg but ok.”

AOC has since deleted the tweet, but that didn't stop the internet from taking it and running with it.

See the thread below:

One user tweeted:

"AOC absolutely scorched Elon Musk to a pile of ash."

Another person said:

"@elonmusk paid 44$Billion so @AOC could own #twitter"

Someone else tweeted:

"Want some aloe for that burn?"

Some are speculating as to whether AOC was actually referring to Musk or Zuckerberg in her original post.

Musk likely believed she was subtweeting him after his hostile buyout of Twitter last week. Though his whopping $44 billion purchase is not yet a done deal, the prospect of his ownership has the world chirping.

Ocasio-Cortez is a staunch supporter of breaking up big tech. She has famously been outspoken about Facebook's "monopolistic behavior."

She once posted on Twitter:

"It's almost as if Facebook's monopolistic mission to either own, copy, or destroy any competing platform has incredibly destructive effects on free society and democracy ... "
"Remember: WhatsApp wasn't created by Facebook. It was an independent success. FB got scared & bought it."

This person noted:

"AOC actively calls out for all of them to get taxed fairly and warns about big tech takeover."
"She doesn’t just [criticize] Elon."

Her feelings about Musk's prospective ownership of Twitter no doubt mirror her feelings toward Zuckerberg.
