People Explain Which Things Work In Theory But Not In Practice

You know what's hard? Cooking. Not just throwing some eggs in a pan and setting them on the stove over a medium-low heat while you guzzle your first cup of coffee of the day, no, I mean real cooking. Gathering together more than three ingredients, working in multiple phases, balancing out varying heats to make sure the appropriate level of oil doesn't burn, and so on, can all be a bit too much for anyone who's only read a recipe.

Sometimes, it's easier in theory than in practice.

I practice ITF Taekwondo, and we literally separate traditional techniques and sparring techniques. A traditional turning kick for example is what we do in patterns and is great at breaking boards, but for sparring we do something totally different that is actually better in a fight. We literally kick with a different part of the foot, and even kick in a different direction (45 degrees to the side for traditional, straight to the front for sparring).

Russian система. It's a lethal fighting technique used by speznaz and learned by many outside of that. But it is specifically for lethal force. Therefore you can't really spar without seriously injuring one of the people. Making it not effective because you can't fully learn the technique if you can't practice it in real instances

Pure communism and pure capitalism.

It's almost like people will find ways to take advantage of any system and put their own short term benefit ahead of both their own long term benefit and others benefit at all.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
