An Australian TV reporter publicly apologized to Adele for an embarrassing gaffe during his major interview with the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer.

The host of Channel Seven’s Weekend Sunrise, Matt Doran, had flown from Australia to London with his crew for an exclusive interview ahead of the release of 30–the singer's highly anticipated fourth studio album.

According to The Guardian, the chat was part of a $1 million deal that would have included broadcast rights to Adele’s One Night Only television special.

But the interview wound up being canceled after Doran admitted he had only listened to the track, "Easy On Me," out of the entire album.

Doran said he missed the email with a link to preview the latest album. Adele's team had allegedly sent the e-card ahead of the interview, which was to be Adele's only Australian interview.

You can watch the host's apology to Adele, here.

Doren opened his statement with:

"This is a story that has sparked a torrent of abuse and mockery from around the world, and if I'm being honest with you, the bulk of this savaging, I deserve, and I totally own."

"I flew to London to interview Adele, an unspeakable privilege and what was to be one of the highlights of my career."

"I made the terrible mistake of assuming we weren't to be given a preview copy of this album because our interview was airing before it was released, and Adele's album was the industry's most prized secret."

"The day after — after we landed in London — an email came through from Sony. It didn't mention Adele, but it did contain a link to her album."

"The genuine, dead-set, hand-on-heart truth is that I missed it by an absurdly long margin — the most important email I've ever missed in my life."

"The interview itself — Adele didn't walk out. It ran over time."

Doran said at least half of the interview "focused squarely on the new music" and covered topics ranging from divorce and empowerment to the "paradox" of being "the world's most famous artist but hiding fame."

"But all that doesn't matter. Because by missing the album link, however I might try to justify it, I've insulted Adele," he continued.

"To Adele, I say, I'd never have knowingly disrespected you by deliberately not listening to your work. I am so sorry."
"I also apologize to Adele's Australian fans and to you, our viewers, who, through my error, have been denied this interview and the insight into her character."

Online reception to his interview was mixed.

Hardcore Adele fans were less forgiving of the host disrespecting their idol.

Others felt the host was genuine.

It's clear Doran finally listened to the entire album, albeit a little too late.

He quoted a lyric from the bridge of the singer's 10th track on the album, "Hold On," saying:

"Sometimes forgiveness is easiest in secret. I'm not expecting that forgiveness. But I do owe you an apology."

When Adele asked Doran after the exclusive interview what he thought of the new album, he told her, "I haven't listened to it," according to the Daily Telegraph.

“Adele didn’t storm out,” he said. “In fact, it was the polar opposite. What was meant to be 20 minutes was extended to 29 minutes."

“The majority of the chat was about the album. I told her: ‘I’ve only had the privilege of hearing Easy on Me, but not the other tracks.’ ”

Despite reports indicating he was suspended for two weeks for the gaffe, Doran said he was not formally suspended from Sunrise.

Sony has refused to release the interview footage.

It's no secret that teachers make less than they should, given the fact that they're educating and playing a big part in raising our next generation of children.

However, it's common for teachers to discover that they could easily make more money from service work, an office job, or even retail. They also don't have to provide their own supplies or take their work home with them—for grading and planning late into the night—in these other roles, either.
