Former President Donald Trump is infamous for demanding unconditional loyalty. Any previous devotion, no matter how old, can be erased with one act of perceived betrayal.
Last week, Congress finally passed the first part of President Joe Biden's infrastructure package. The bill, which passed the Senate months ago, passed the House with bipartisan support for the billions it allocates for public transportation, electric vehicle incentives, and the most substantial investment in public rail since the birth of Amtrak, among other vital improvements.
Nineteen Senate Republicans and Thirteen House Republicans supported the bill, and Trump took this as a personal affront. He particularly lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky—Trump's onetime ally before McConnell refused to support Trump's efforts to overthrow the results of the 2020 election.
In an all-too-typical deranged statement, Trump railed against McConnell for voting in favor of the bill.
NEW!

President Donald J. He continuously said he couldn't get it passed, just like I had to go around him to get the very popular Southern Border Wall built ... Also, why did Mitch give the Democrats a two-month hiatus, just long enough for them to figure it all out, when they were completely ready to fold?"
The nonsensical diatribe was ridiculed across Twitter.
I try not to engage with a lot of Trump stuff now but wtf is with "Old Crow Mitch McConnell"https://twitter.com/realLizUSA/status/1458205303888130054 …— Kevin Reuning (@Kevin Reuning) 1636502858

TFG is making excuses for his many failed attempts at infrastructure week and lying about how much of his stupid wall he built.
This is just pitiful.https://twitter.com/realLizUSA/status/1458205303888130054 …— Diane Toucan (@Diane Toucan) 1636510078
Meanwhile, Trump's supporters joined the former President in railing against McConnell.
Because Mitch the Bitch is an evil RINO that cheated in his election.
Another reason the Dems are against Audits. That's a great question. The old Republucan guard didn't want to give Trump a win, but had no problem giving one to Biden. All of them traitorshttps://twitter.com/realLizUSA/status/1458205303888130054 …— @MisPatriot Stormborn (@@MisPatriot Stormborn) 1636507866
Pretty good questions. Mitch's sabotage of Trump's presidency was very, very, very profound.https://twitter.com/realLizUSA/status/1458205303888130054 …— SailingGirl73 (@SailingGirl73) 1636504590
Just days earlier, Trump released a statement against former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie—another one time ally of his.
