Chris Cuomo Slams Trump over Latest 'Fraud' Claims with the Perfect 'Princess Bride' Quote
CNN // CNN

President Donald Trump remains steadfast in his refusal to acknowledge defeat in the 2020 election despite President-elect Joe Biden expected to earn 306 electoral votes—well above the 270 minimum to take the White House.

But even through Trump's most bizarre or bumbling attempts to undo the votes of millions of Americans, most of the Republican party has stood by him. On Tuesday, news broke that congressional leadership on the Joint Committee for Inaugural Activities failed to pass a simple resolution acknowledging Biden's victory, thanks to "no" votes from its Republican members.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Republican Party was calling for Trump's supporters to die for the fight to overturn the election results.

That same day, at a White House event, Trump called on Republican legislatures and conservative Supreme Court Justices to have the "courage" to subvert the will of the people.

Trump said:

"Let's see whether or not somebody has the courage — whether it's legislatures or a justice of the Supreme Court or a number of justices of the Supreme Court — let's see if they have the courage to do what everybody in this country knows is right. If somebody has the courage, I know who the next administration will be."

Hours later, in the Tuesday night broadcast of his show, CNN's Chris Cuomo delivered a nine minute takedown of Trump's denial and the Republican party's complacency.

He alluded to the classic 1987 film The Princess Bride and a line delivered by the dashing swordsman Inigo Montoya, played by Mandy Patinkin.

Cuomo said:

"To paraphrase Inigo Montoya, a character from one of the greatest movies ever, The Princess Bride: 'Courage. You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Twitter users got a kick out of Cuomo's allusion to the widely adored movie.

Others shared Cuomo's sentiments toward Trump and his Republican enablers.

Regardless of Trump's protests, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be inaugurated on January 20th.

Serena Williams' Husband Just Stepped In To Defend Her From Accusations That She's Lightening Her Skin

When the Williams family burst onto the scene in the tennis world as juniors, an inordinate amount of discourse focused on Venus and Serena's appearance. The Williams sisters weren't the first Black people—men or women—to play tennis at an international level, but they quickly achieved heights that set them on the path to legendary status.

The heightened attention brought with it a lot of racist and colorist comments about their hair, their skin, and their bodies—especially Serena's more muscular and curvy body.

'CBS Evening News' Ripped After New Anchor Tony Dokoupil Offers Fawning 'Salute' To Marco Rubio

CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil closed out its broadcast on Tuesday with a cringey tribute to Secretary of State Marco Rubio that has angered viewers already critical of the news organization's diirection under Bari Weiss, its editorial leader.

In October, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison unveiled a deal—reportedly valued at $150 million—to purchase Weiss’ contrarian outlet The Free Press, while also installing her as the top editorial leader at CBS News.

Minneapolis Mayor Tells ICE To 'Get The F—k Out' Out Of The City After Agent Fatally Shoots Woman

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after an agent shot and killed a female driver during a raid on Wednesday, calling "bullsh*t" on the agency's claim that the shooting was self-defense. The victim has been identified as Renee Nicole Good, a mother of a six-year-old boy.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin claimed the woman “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.” But Frey pushed back against this narrative considering witnesses described seeing the woman in the vehicle trying to flee officers when she was shot.
