Vice President JD Vance was criticized for hypocrisy after a video resurfaced of him vowing in February that the Trump administration will defend free speech—a pledge that hasn't aged well at all considering ABC's suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Last week, President Donald Trump saw an opening to get late-night host Jimmy Kimmel off the air and successfully pressured ABC to do so following comments Kimmel made about the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk.
ABC's decision to suspend Kimmel's program came after Brendan Carr, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), hinted his agency could take action against ABC over comments the host made during Monday’s broadcast.
Trump has since set his sights on Kimmel's fellow late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, actions backed by Vance, who last week went so far as to host the late Kirk's podcast and baselessly claim, despite statistics to the contrary, that the far-left is more likely to commit political violence than the far-right.
Amid all this, a video resurfaced of Vance defending the Trump administration as a bastion of free speech during February's Munich Secretary Conference:
"Our own government encouraged private companies to silence people who dared to utter what turned out to be an obvious truth. So I come here today not just with an observation but with an offer."
“And just as the Biden administration seemed desperate to silence people for speaking their minds, so the Trump administration will do precisely the opposite, and I hope that we can work together on that."
“In Washington, there is a new sheriff in town. And under Donald Trump’s leadership, we may disagree with your views, but we will fight to defend your right to offer it in the public square, agree or disagree.”
You can hear what Vance said in the video below.
That sure was something to hear given the decision to pull Kimmel off the air, an action taken at Trump's behest. Trump has celebrated the move and vowed to go after media organizations who he claims only give him "bad press."
Those words, to say nothing of Vance's own, are ironic considering the lengths the administration has gone to punish anyone they perceive isn't bending the knee enough to honor Kirk, who was assassinated September 10 and has since become a martyr of sorts for the far-right. The administration has blamed leftists for Kirk's murder despite evidence the shooter was a conservative.
And what's all that about free speech, given that the administration refuses to cooperate with members of Congress and has pushed back against protests calling for the release of the Epstein files, in which Trump is suspected of being heavily featured?
People were quick to call out Vance's hypocrisy.
Your move, JD.
MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's current "border czar," Tom Homan, served as the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Trump's first presidential term.
Between Trump terms, Homan accepted bribes from businesses for his promise to funnel lucrative government contracts to them if Trump was reelected. Or at least that's what he promised to do when he accepted $50,000 from undercover FBI agents.
But Trump's Department of Justice (DOJ), headed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, shut down the investigation into Homan's corruption.
Bondi was the Florida Attorney General who failed to take any action against longtime Trump pal and previously convicted registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while he ran a human trafficking ring with girls as young as 14 out of his Florida home and offices.
As reward for her exemplary work in Florida, Trump selected her to head the DOJ and handle the Epstein files.
Last year, the FBI recorded Homan accepting $50,000 in cash and saying he could help the undercover FBI agents, posing as business executives, to secure government contracts in a second Trump term.
According to the New York Times, the FBI was actively investigating Homan for bribery and other potential crimes until the Trump administration pulled the plug.
People, including members of Congress, are sounding off on the corruption and the cover-up.
Border Czar Tom Homan was caught by the FBI accepting bribes - on camera - to deliver government contracts in exchange for $50,000 in cash.Pam Bondi knew.Kash Patel knew.Emil Bove knew. And they made the investigation go away.A corrupt attempt to conceal brazen graft.

What I want to know is if this is the first time Homan has accepted a bribe. In a normal Administration, he would be immediately fired and a full forensic investigation conducted. But in this corrupt Administration, they’ll lie and deflect.

Bet Homan won’t even have to pay taxes on his bribe. At least as long as the regime lasts.
— LOLGOP ❌👑,🤡 (@thefarce.org) September 22, 2025 at 9:03 AM
There isn’t a person alive who is surprised that Tom Homan is a dirty cop. Not even Republicans who apparently watched the FBI video of him taking a $50,000 bribe, and just swept it under the rug.

Here’s the thing. The half of the country that lives in the FoxNews sewer aren’t going to hear about border czar Homan getting caught on tape taking a $50,000 bribe

Tom Homan operates the terrorist organization ICE that sends masked thugs into our cities, brutalize people selected by color and ships them to concentration camps.I want him held accountable for that. His taking a $50k bribe was the least horrible of his crimes.#nurembergonthepotomac

maga line on the homan bribe is that he is innocent because he would not have taken the bribe if he had known it was a sting

Tom Homan was free to accept a $50,000 cash bribe because he knows he’s in the whiteness protection plan.

Tom Homan seems like the kind of guy who would have spent his entire 50k bribe on taxidermy.

FBI caught fascist Border Czar Tom Homan taking a $50K bribe ON CAMERA to funnel tax payer funded Govt contracts to his friends. Bondi & Patel knew & likely Trump knew—& killed the investigationBeing undocumented is a civil offense. Taking bribes is a felony. So when does Homan go to El Salvador?🤔

It's not called entrapment when you accept a bribe, it's called corruption. Trump aide Homan accepted $50,000 in bribery sting operation, sources say www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

The big story isn't that Tom Homan took a bribe; the big story is that Donald Trump’s DOJ dropped the case. Oh, and Donald Trump is in the Epstein files.
— Truth Social(ist) (@twitterrefugeeog.bsky.social) September 20, 2025 at 7:45 PM
Of course MAGA doesn't care about Tom Homan taking a bribe; they don't care that Donald Trump is a pedophile.

The FBI says there was insufficient evidence to charge Tom Homan with bribery because in the video of undercover agents handing him a bag of cash he did not say “Thank you for this bribe.”
— Missing The Point (@missingthept.bsky.social) September 21, 2025 at 7:52 AM
A few Qs in this week's Kash hearings that ring differently know that we know Tom Homan took a bribe.1) Kash was asked how many people triggered CI concerns in background checks. Homan investigation was a CI investigation.2) Kash was asked WHY background checks were halted until he was confirmed.

Tom Homan accepted a $50K bribe and will face no consequences. As a teacher, if I accept a gift worth more than $50, I could lose my job and/or face criminal charges.

Neither the White House nor the FBI denied that an investigation of Homan occurred.

Is it true?
Are there actually great guys out there?
I fear the guys who start out great often end up the killer on an episode of Dateline.
I'm told some husbands are actually quite lovely.
I've seen a few here and there.
I've mostly foundf trash for myself, but I'm not bitter.
Let's discuss some nice love stories that stayed that way.
Redditor Mean-Main-9589 wanted to hear about all the good guys that actually do exist out there, so they asked:
"To all the married women, what is that something your husband does that makes think you won the lottery in marriage aspect of life?"
"He does a lot more grand gestures, but the most special to me is that he always, always fills my water bottle with icy water just how I like it, right before I get home so it’s waiting for me."
"We got married before either of us could afford nice jewelry, so I still have my plain silver engagement ring, but every ice cube in that bottle is like a 20 carat VVS diamond to me."
- blueberryjones

"He's Perfect. I have been sick for the last week, and he's spoon-fed me soup and ice cream when I was too dizzy to do it myself."
"I love flowers, but I love them outside so they don't die as fast. He landscaped every inch of our property and added planters so I could have as many flowers as I want. He's grown plants from a cutting, so I could have them."
"I came into the marriage with an elderly cat. When the cat was dying, he'd intermittently get diarrhea and need baths. My husband would get up in the middle of the night and bathe the cat so I could rest for work. He slept on the floor with a cat in his final days. When we met, he said he didn't really like cats."
"He loves to cook. I can't tell you the last time I cooked dinner. I'll do the dishes, I'll scrub a toilet, but I hate cooking. He'll cook anything with a smile. He knows my parents, who live with us, don't tolerate spicy food. Sometimes he cooks two different dinners so we can have something spicy, and they won't."
"My parents live with us, and he tolerates everything that comes with that. When they're injured, he'll help out with everything from assembling crutches to getting medication to helping in the bathroom. He handles it all with tact, grace, patience, and empathy. He even helps the elderly neighbors when they're in need."
- CenterofChaos
"Loves me unconditionally. Cleans around the house. Supports everything I have ever done. Looks at me as if I created the sun. Spends as much time with me as possible. Figures out what I need before I do. Talks to me and about me as if I am the greatest person he has ever met in his life. Makes me laugh, still makes me blush after nearly 10 years, can still give me goosebumps, makes me smile when I’m crying."
"It’s a lot of things. Some of them are small and some of them are large. But he’s always been there and I can’t imagine going through the rest of this life with anyone else."
- Gloria815
"He is ferociously on my side no matter what. He makes me laugh until my stomach hurts but he also is so kind and helpful to those around him. We were at a wedding a few years back and while walking into the reception area, one of the waiters dropped an entire cart of plates that shattered everywhere. Everyone walked right past or just around the guy, not my husband though. He stopped and helped that man pick up every single plate."
"He does things like this often and every time, I am reminded how incredibly lucky I am."
- HistoricalHeart
"When the kids were babies, my husband used to come home from work, take over care of the kids, and told me to go out for an hour just for me. I would go to Target or to the mall and just walk around to destress from being at home all day with the kids. I didn't know anyone whose husband did that, and I felt really loved knowing he was thinking of me and how stressful my days at home were. That five hours a week to myself really helped keep me sane when the kids were little."
- StatusButterfly1575
"Every time I turned the shower on he’d immediately go and pop a towel and fresh clothes in the dryer and listen for me to turn the shower off and bring me a warm towel and clothes to change into. He died 8 years ago, and I still cry getting in and out of the shower."
- Previous-Snow-1030

"My husband ruined my favorite sweater by leaving it in the washer overnight (the dyes bled). When he saw how upset I was, he didn't try to invalidate my feelings or get defensive... he just apologized and got me a replacement sweater."
"I have never had to feel worried that my emotions would make my partner resent me. He just honestly listens and repairs things."
- FluffyOmens
"I can't believe I'm going to tell this story but here I go. It was one thing my husband did. We lost our dog to cancer about six months before we listed our house for sale. This dog was my soul dog, and I could not bear to leave her at our old house. My husband and brother-in-law dug her up (she was buried in a heavy canvas and probably plastic-lined burial bag), placed her in a large tote, put her on a trailer, and drove the hour to our new house. Then they dug a grave in the prettiest spot up on a hill and reburied her."
"We've been married for 27 years and he's been an amazing husband and dad but this was the moment I knew I had really won the husband (and in-law) lottery. I joke around with my daughters that when it comes to husbands they need to find the man who is willing to dig up their dead dog."
- BeeBarnes1
"He cooks, does the dishes and grocery shopping. And the amount he’s helped me postpartum is incredible!! I’ve read stories of men not helping with injuries after birth and mine helped like it was nothing. He took care of my stitches and cleaned my bloody laundry without batting an eye."
- HoppyRaven12
"My husband slept on the floor next to our son's crib for the first ten months of his life, doing all the night feeds. I was a SAHM and he had to get up and go to work every day. I wasn’t healing well physically or mentally from a traumatic birth, but he really showed up for us. I’ll never forget his kindness when I was my most vulnerable. Both our son and I think he hung the moon."
- Salt_Bodybuilder_542
"He is kind. He is a model husband and father. He is interesting and has hobbies. He makes sure I’m happy. He cares."
“'I love that man like nobody can, he moves mountains then pounds them to ground again.'"
- onedoodlethatcantbe
"Silly answer: he will always chop the onions for me so I don't have to cry the whole way through."
"Serious answer: he treats me as a full human being and equal partner in a culture which increasingly seems to not want to do so. Also, we are in our 50s now, but have known each other since freshman year of high school. If something ever happened to him (ye gods forbid) I would never be able to replicate the sheer amount of shared history and in-jokes that we have with another future partner. This man knows and accepts every part of me, good or bad."
- Rhamona_Q
"He will rub/massage any ache or sore muscle I have, any time of day… and there’s no sexual remarks that come with it. Fourth time pregnant currently, and I have him rubbing my lower back every day— never a complaint, always seems happy to assist in any kind of relief he can bring to me. I’m so appreciative!"
- Chiddybang-bang
"He's interested in the things I care about. Not to the point where he will take on those things as his own hobbies, but enough to remember the storyline or characters or tropes. He's currently dressed as Booth in a suit because I'm dressed as Bones for a convention."
"Short version: he likes me. As a friend. So he is nice to me."
- TXpheonix
"He's a really great dad."
"When we do have sex, I always finish too."
"He's hilarious."
- OutdoorKittenMe

Well, I guess great men do exist.
I suppose I'll keep an eye out, though I won't hold my breath. ;)
It's nice to hear about true love stories and partners who care.
Love is a possibility.
I hope a lot of partners are learning a few things from these stories.
Let's all go find true love.
President Donald Trump was criticized after he boarded Air Force One with reporters and told them to "fly safely" before making a remark that told them exactly how little he cares about them—to say nothing about the rest of us.
The presidential plane was due to fly back to the United States from the United Kingdom, where Trump's visit, his first since 2019, was marred by significant protests.
Whenever Trump—or any president—flies on Air Force One, a full press pool travels with him, including at least one representative from each major type of media outlet.
As reporters took their seats, Trump turned to them and said:
"'Fly safely.' You know why I say that? Because I'm on the flight. Otherwise I wouldn't care."
You can hear what he said in the video below.
The moment said everything you need to know about Trump.
Trump made his darkly selfish remark after he and First Lady Melania Trump experienced significant issues while traveling themselves.
Before boarding the presidential plane in London, the couple took a brief Marine One flight that was forced to make an emergency landing at a local airfield due to a “minor hydraulic issue.”
The helicopter had been en route from Chequers to Stansted Airport, where Air Force One awaited, but touched down early “out of an abundance of caution,” according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The president and his wife then boarded a backup helicopter to complete the trip.
Earlier in their trip to the UK, the Trumps experienced another major travel issue when a Spirit Airlines plane came dangerously close to Air Force One while flying over Long Island after its pilots allegedly delayed following air traffic controllers’ instructions to steer clear of the president’s aircraft.
The Trumps were then able to continue their travels.
The exploitation of the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk by MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, members of his administration, and the MAGAsphere has turned a right-wing commentator often criticized for his rhetoric into a martyr above reproach.
Media personalities and ordinary people are being censured and censored for just quoting Kirk's own less palatable words or for criticizing how the real Charlie Kirk has been obliterated by those conservatives sanitizing his life while seeking to gain from his death.
Anything less than worship is being attacked as celebrating his death and promoting violence by unhinged MAGA minions and political opportunists.
Actor Amanda Seyfried found herself in the crosshairs of those who adhere to the Kirk martyrdom narrative over a three word comment she made on Instagram in reference to an actual quote from Kirk.
In July, Kirk wrote on X:
"Zero people from Gaza should be allowed to come to America. Period."
In response to Kirk's post pushing for children and other noncombatants forced to live in a war zone being targeted for exclusion as refugees, Seyfried—who uses the user name "mingey"—commented:
"He was hateful"
In the pre-martyr period, many agreed that targeting children and other noncombatants fleeing a war zone because of their race, religion, or ethnicity was hateful. But the MAGA martyrdom movement requires ignoring everything that was said or done by Kirk that doesn't fit their new narrative.
After facing backlash from those retconning Kirk for their own purposes, Seyfried spoke out.
On her Instagram, the Mamma Mia movies star wrote:
"We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable."
"No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings."
"Can we agree on that at least?"
The post was captioned:
"I don’t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse- isn’t that what we should be having?"
People on Reddit appreciated Seyfried's honest commentary.

People reached out on Instagram as well.

Kirk's army of apologists have tried to explain away his own well documented views, claiming every direct quote is taken out of context and people need to view all of his online content to understand why his posts on X weren't racist, misogynistic, or hateful.
Mourning that another person was killed in another act of senseless gun violence is something everyone should do.
Now if even a fraction of the energy put toward trying to defend Kirk's image from his own words was put towards ending gun violence in the United States, maybe fewer people would end up sharing his violent end.
