A new viral TikTok has one Target location in hot water after it was revealed that that location's idea of a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month amounted to nothing more than chips and salsa.

Open and empty bags of Tostitos sit next to open jars of salsa on a break room table in the video, with a plaque for Hispanic Heritage Month front and center of the table.

Much like @jessicasilvaa01, the woman who posted the video, most of TikTok was not amused.

National Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated from Sept. 15-Oct. 15 In United States, signed into law as a single week by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.

The month is designed to recognize the "great contribution to our national heritage made by our people of Hispanic descent -- not only in the fields of culture, business, and science, but also through their valor in battle."

The term "Hispanic" specifically refers to people with a connection to Spain, the Spanish language, or of or belonging to a group of regions titled the "Hispanidad"--a group of countries that share a connection to Spain.

The graphic utilized for the Target Hispanic Heritage Month plaque showcases the Brazilian flag on the dress of the woman-figure wearing it; but folks from Brazil are NOT included under the term "Hispanic" as Brazil is a Portuguese country.

Target has not commented on its choice, despite being widely condemned by the TikTok community at large for their very unsatisfactory celebration of the cultural offerings of the Hispanic community.
