Shannen Doherty Reveals She Had A 'Super Awkward' Fling With Brian Austin Green After '90210'

The actor revealed to her 'Beverly Hills 90210' costar Tori Spelling how she briefly dated their costar Brian Austin Green after she departed the hit show, but it 'didn't even make sense.'

Speaking to her former Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Tori Spelling on the Misspelling podcast, actor Shannen Doherty revealed that she'd briefly dated their co-star Brian Austin Green after she departed the hit show, though she admitted that their fling "didn't even make sense."

After Spelling, who'd previously dated Green, said she didn't know until recently that Doherty had "hooked up with Brian," Doherty clarified that their brief romance occurred "way later" in her career, potentially during her time on Charmed.

Doherty described their romance as "short-lived" and lacking chemistry, elaborating:

“We tried something, and we just went, ‘Yeah this isn’t going to work.’ The kissing didn’t even make sense."

Spelling said she couldn’t “even imagine” Doherty and Green kissing, to which Doherty responded:

“I can’t imagine it now, either. That’s why it didn’t go anywhere because it was awkward. It was super awkward."
“There were no fireworks. We were so close, and we had known each other like we were little kids essentially."
“I love Brian, he’s one of my favorite humans. But there was no spark.”

After Spelling quipped that the two women had "shared even more than I thought," Doherty joked that they “shared Brian’s saliva.”

People were similarly surprised by Doherty's revelation.

Later in the podcast, Spelling reflected on her own relationship with Green, who she considers her "first love." Although she had been young and in another relationship at the time, she confessed she fell "head over heels in love" with Green.

Doherty offered her perspective, suggesting that Spelling's feelings for Green were more akin to a teenage infatuation than true love. Spelling admitted that though she and Green are "just friends," she still gets "so flustered and riled up" when they speak "and it takes me right back to being my 18-year-old self.”

Spelling, who once revealed to their former co-star Jennie Garth that she thought she loved Green when they filmed the Beverly Hills 90210 finale in 2000, also acknowledged Green's support during her recent divorce from husband Dean McDermott.

She said she and Green are like "brother and sister" and that he's been "so great and such a champion" as she navigates this new chapter in her life.

The two women also discussed their rocky friendship, recalling that "one minute, we were friends, and then one minute we weren't." Doherty recalled that she and Spelling began to "drift apart" after they took a trip with Spelling's boyfriend at the time, who was "abusive" and an "addict."

Doherty said:

"You [Spelling] were always easily swayed. And it was very frustrating for me because I always used to tell you like, ‘Yeah, Tor, have an opinion.’ Like, you're smart, you're funny, you're talented. I loved you and I respected you and I wanted you to believe in yourself as much as I believed in you.” ...
"I specifically remember looking at you and saying, 'You have to end it with him, or I'm going to actually kill him. Like, I can't stand by and watch this.”

Spelling acknowledged that she has previously had trouble standing up for herself:

“I think when I was young, it was whoever was the alpha more at the moment would sway me. And I think I couldn't stand up for myself ... I didn't take ownership of anything."
"So it's like, you know, nice, nice, nice to everyone. But it's like you said, have a f---ing opinion about something. And I'm sure I did."

Many appreciated the candid conversation.

Scott Bessent Blasted Over His Bonkers Suggestion For How To Bring Your Own Inflation Rate Down

Continuing to follow the example of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared on Meet the Press Sunday to blame Democratic President Joe Biden for the financial downturn caused by Trump's tariff fiasco, then lied repeatedly about the state of the economy.

Meet the Press host Kristen Welker played a clip of MAGA Republican Vice President JD Vance telling a conservative audience at a Breitbart News event that Americans owe the Trump administration "a little bit of patience"—apparently while they figure out what tariffs are and how they work since they're rolling back more of them to lower consumer prices despite claiming Trump's tariffs don't affect consumer prices.

Trump Is Now Using His Presidential Sway To Pressure Studio Into Making 'Rush Hour 4'—And, Huh?

President Trump has reportedly pressured Paramount head Larry Ellison to make another sequel to Rush Hour, his favorite buddy-cop movie, as the company looks to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
