Twitter User Inserts Donald Trump's Speakerphone Fail With the President of Mexico Into the Closing Credits of 'Veep', and It's Perfect

Twitter User Inserts Donald Trump's Speakerphone Fail With the President of Mexico Into the Closing Credits of 'Veep', and It's Perfect

It works almost too well.

During a Monday afternoon Oval Office press event to announce a new trade deal with Mexico, Donald Trump had some major difficulties getting Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto on his speakerphone.

Trump and Nieto have reportedly agreed to changes to NAFTA, which Trump has derided as being disadvantageous to the United States.

According to CNN, the biggest items agreed upon by the United States and Mexico are as follows:

  • "Auto manufacturing: The new deal would require that 75% of the parts in any car sold in North America be produced in the United States or Mexico. Currently, about 62% of parts are required to be produced in the United States, Mexico or Canada.
  • Higher labor standards: The new deal would require that 40% to 45% of auto parts in cars sold be made by workers earning at least $16 USD per hour.
  • Sunset clause: The agreement will last for 16 years, and will be reviewed every six years."

Trump added that the NAFTA monicker will be dropped from the newly negotiated trade deal.

But the details of the deal were overshadowed by the speakerphone fail, which is now going viral for an entirely different reason: a Twitter hero has set it to the closing credits theme song of HBO's Veep.

And it works well...almost too well:

Twitter thinks we're living in an episode of Veep.

Is the season over yet?

What is Trump even doing?

Nice reference.

Parsa also synced the Trump footage with the music from Curb Your Enthusiasm, and it too is scary perfect.

It's almost better tbh.

WWLDS?

What a time to be alive.

President Donald Trump shared an unhinged tribute to Apple CEO Tim Cook—whom he again referred to as "Tim Apple"—following Cook's announcement that Apple will have a new leader starting in September, openly reminiscing about all the times Cook would call him to "kiss my ass."

Cook took over from Steve Jobs and reshaped Apple by leaning on his operations expertise. He streamlined and expanded global supply chains, introduced Apple-designed chips, and pushed the company beyond hardware into services, launching subscription offerings like Apple News, Apple TV+, and Apple Pay, which have since become major revenue drivers.

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke frankly with MeidasTouch Network's Pablo Menriquez when asked about President Donald Trump's second-term golfing habits, pointing out why Americans might actually want him on the "golf course more than you want him in the Oval Office."

She said it was “awful” that Trump was golfing while the U.S. is at war with Iran and facing rising prices, arguing he should be focused on his responsibilities instead.
