McConnell Shoots Down GOP Calls for Biden's Impeachment Over Afghanistan in Blunt Statement

McConnell Shoots Down GOP Calls for Biden's Impeachment Over Afghanistan in Blunt Statement
WYMT

This week, President Joe Biden ended America's longest war as the last of U.S. troops were withdrawn from Afghanistan, but the occasion was marred by chaos and tragedy as the Afghan government collapsed faster than anticipated, allowing the fundamentalist Taliban regime to retake the region.

Republicans have slammed the withdrawal as tantamount to treason, citing the number of American civilians remaining in Afghanistan as the White House continues to formulate evacuation plans for them.

Some Republican elected officials, like far-right Congresswoman and prominent conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, have called for impeachment.

Greene filed articles of impeachment late last month and has seen multiple Republican House members agree to cosponsor the legislation, which almost certainly won't be brought to the floor.

As Americans across the country know all too well from witnessing two impeachments in as many years, the Senate is responsible for deciding whether or not to convict an impeached President.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky dashed Republicans' hopes to see Biden impeached.

Watch below.

At an event in Kentucky on Wednesday, McConnell said:

"Well, look, the President is not going to be removed from office. There's a Democratic House, a narrowly Democratic Senate. That's not going to happen. ... There isn't going to be an impeachment."

Conservatives were livid at McConnell's comments.

But with Democrats holding a narrow majority in both houses, impeachment is a nonstarter.

People were surprised McConnell got backlash for pointing this out.

Nevertheless, the MAGA crowd remains disappointed.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
