Jennifer Lopez Seemingly Sums Up Her Divorce From Ben Affleck In Just Four Blunt Words

The actor was caught on camera talking to Bobby Cannavale at the Toronto Film Festival, and it certainly seems like she was talking about her recent divorce from Affleck.

After years of an off-again-on-again romance that began in 2002, "Bennifer" is officially over.

On August 20, 2024, actor/singer Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from actor/film producer Ben Affleck after she got back together with him in July 2021 and announced their second engagement in April 2022.

The Hollywood Reporter eavesdropped on a conversation in which Lopez appeared to be candidly conversing with actor Bobby Cannavale at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday about her recent separation from Affleck.

THR caught Lopez and Cannavale catching up at the after-party for the premiere of their new film, Unstoppable, and featured a TikTok video of their interaction in which their conversation is barely audible against the blaring background music.

It seems Lopez repeatedly tells Cannavale:

“I’m a bad picker."

After repeating the phrase a couple more times in Cannavale's ear, Lopez added:

“It is what it is."

Here is the clip.

After noticing the camera on her, Lopez switched gears to do a little shimmy and turned to face photographers with Cannavale for a photo opp.

Out of context, it's unclear exactly what Lopez was referring to in the conversation as she could have been discussing something else.

She and Affleck had already called off their first engagement in January 2004, with Lopez citing Affleck's excessive media scrutiny as one of the reasons at the time.

Lopez was previously married to Cuban waiter Ojani Noa from February 1997 to January 1998 and was in a tumultuous relationship with record producer and rapper Sean Combs from 1999 to early 2001.

That year in September, she married her former backup dancer Cris Judd. She began dating Affleck in mid-2002 before her divorce from Judd was finalized in January 2003.

Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in June 2004, five months after her engagement to Affleck was called off. In June 2014, she and Anthony finalized their divorce after he filed in April 2012.

She retained primary custody of their fraternal twin children, a boy and a girl, who were born in 2008.

Social media users who watched THR's TikTok clip had a hunch Lopez was making light of her choice of men.

Meanwhile, fans couldn't help but be enamored of the 55-year-old's stunning appearance at the premiere.

Others noticed the nature of Lopez and Cannavale's chumminess.

According to IMDb, the new biographical sports drama Unstoppable centers on "wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and won a national championship in 2011 while competing at Arizona State University."

It is produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles. In addition to Lopez and Cannavale, the supporting cast includes Michael Peña and Don Cheadle.

The film will have a limited theatrical release in December 2024.
