Jay Leno Jabs Trump on 'Tonight Show' by Correcting Fake Proverbs

Former late night host Jay Leno returned to NBC's The Tonight Show via an online clip where he subtly swiped Donald Trump. Though Leno didn't directly take aim at the president, he took so-called "fake" proverbs and gave them new twists.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon shared Leno's video on Friday after he temporarily took over for Fallon's monologue duties on Wednesday night.

In the clip, Leno gives an alternate spin on the "journey of a thousand miles" and it's not like anything we've previously thought. There's no incentive for this journey. "I don't really want to go. This is gonna be awful. A lot of my relatives will be there. No, I'm not going."

Tackling the next "fake proverb," Leno saw no purpose for the worm having a plausible role in the early bird scenario. Because who would boast about catching a worm? "'Hey, I got the worm.' Well good for you, Larry. This doesn't make any sense."

As far as making biased judgements based on appearances, he said, "You can judge a book because usually the publisher has phony things online and they take care of all that stuff."

"If you want something done right, don't do it yourself 'cause inevitably you will screw it up," he confirmed, claiming that most people want to take control over a situation. "Great Bob, how's that new bathroom thing you're working on? Pretty good? No permits? Did it yourself? Hey, there's a leak under the sink there. I think you got some mold. That's what happens."

Finally, he gave one last clarification on a well-known proverb. "Good things come to narcissistic, selfish people."

Could the comedian be making a television comeback?

The comedian hosted The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009 and returned to the program on March 1, 2010 after a media and public relations conflict involving Conan O'Brien resulted in the cancellation of the Jay Leno Show.

Leno made his final appearance with The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014, the same year the host was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.

During Wednesday night's monologue, Leno tagged in from the studio audience when Jimmy Fallon feigned pulling something after his last joke and couldn't continue.

Reclaiming his former position on the studio floor, Leno made comments about sexual harassment in the "Me Too" era.

People (are) finally taking it seriously. In fact, scientists at Northwestern University did a study about the differences between men's brains and women's brains … It seems women's brains are located in their head.

He was definitely missed.

Jon Ossoff Perfectly Explains Why Trump Wants To Build His Ballroom And Put His Face On Money—And Yep, That Tracks

Georgia Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff called out President Donald Trump at a rally in Atlanta on Sunday, saying Trump's plans to build a ballroom at the White House and his push to put his face on $250 bills say a lot about why he is "a failed president."

Last year, Trump ordered the demolition of the entire East Wing to make way for a 90,000 square-foot ballroom that will dwarf the size of the White House itself, sparking alarm from historical preservationists and the public alike.
