'The Des Moines Register' shared some of the winning entries at the 2023 Iowa State Fair on their TikTok page, much to viewers' amusement.

American state fairs celebrate everything emblematic about living in the heartland: families, fried food, and frivolity.

These annual gatherings of recreational fun, typically taking place in late summer or early fall, feature a variety of activities aside from gorging on deep-fried butter and corn dogs.

Visitors can ride safety-questionable carnival rides, listen to live country bands and rockabilly music and participate in myriad games and contests in the spirit of good old-fashioned competition where everyone's a winner for playing.

While dog shows and pie-eating contests are the usual suspects at many state fairs across the nation, there was one contest featured in this year's Iowa State Fair that fascinated social media users.

It's the "Husband Calling Contest," and the internet is obsessed.

The Des Moines Register posted TikTok clips of various female participants standing on stage and screaming for their husbands as they would at home whenever they needed something. It was downright hilarious and, for some, all too relatable.

Take a look and make sure the sound is turned on.

Just don't crank it up. These ladies got pipes!

Warning: NSFW language.

Don't be fooled by their appearances. The wrath of these wives is real, and their hubbies had better be on their good side, or else!

We don't know what the criteria are for ranking but each contestant summoned their unique strengths and quirks, from a woman who barked endless orders, to one who crowed like a rooster.

There was even one who sustained a pitch long enough to rival Celine Dion's breath support.

Social media users were dumbfounded upon introduction to the screeching sport.

Oh, it's real, Peyton.

And there's more.

The Register posted a second clip featuring more contestants who took things up a notch.

One appeared to have strolled right from her home kitchen holding a coffee mug, donning a robe, and in hair curlers.

Another whose water apparently broke yelled for her husband to get them to the hospital ASAP.

Let's just say "K-K-K-K-Kyle", "Jimmieeeeeeeeeee", and "Beau? Beau? BEAU!!!!" had best be on their bestest behavior when in the presence of these loud ladies.
