Gilbert Gottfried's Final Instagram Post Threw Some Hilariously Shady Support Behind Chris Rock

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried left us on a punchline—at least on Instagram, anyway.

The legendary comedian's final post on the platform as well as on Twitter before he passed away Tuesday was a take on the now infamous "slap heard round the world" at last month's Oscars when Will Smith hit Chris Rock during the telecast.

In the post, Gottfried made his position on the incident known with a delightfully shady one-liner for a caption.

See the post below.

Along with a photo of himself and Rock, Gottfried wrote:

"Which is the worst crime? Chris Rock being physically assaulted or Chris Rock telling a joke?"

Gottfried had made the post the day after the incident, which touched off after Rock made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head that many found offensive because she suffers from alopecia.

Gottfried was a prolific comedian known for his loud and abrasive voice which also made him a go-to voiceover talent, most notably in the Disney film Aladdin.

He and Rock were friends from the comedy scene and also starred in two Eddie Murphy films together, 1987's Beverly Hills Cop II and 1998's Doctor Dolittle.

They were also both featured in the 2005 documentary The Aristocrats, about a long-running classic—and very, very filthy—joke that scores of comedians have done over the years. Gottfried's spin on the joke at a 2001 celebrity roast is among the most legendary.

On social media, many loved his post about Chris Rock and felt it was a fitting exit for the iconic comedian.

Gottfried passed away earlier this week of complications from recurrent ventricular tachycardia, a heart condition related to myotonic dystrophy type II, a degenerative muscle disease with which Gottfried struggled for many years. He was 67 years old.

Little Girl Hilariously Figures Out How To Get Around Mom's 'No Bad Words' Rule—And We Gotta Respect It

We've all heard the advice that when you want to start a new habit, you have to give yourself time for that habit to "stick," and you also shouldn't try to take on too many new habits at once.

While the easy answer to that logic is that it would be too much change at once and too much "new" to remember, it also could take the fun out of the new practice.

Giant AI-Generated Christmas Mural Removed After People Notice Some Truly Unhinged Details

Though many of us are worried about the prevalence of AI and its potential to take away the jobs of professional writers, artists, and designers, one truly haunted Christmas mural proves that AI is not ready to take on the responsibility just yet.

Ample theories are available for how this unhinged mural came to be, but a favorite is that an upper executive didn't want to approve an art budget for this year's mural and suggested AI instead, so a designer planned the worst option possible. Or someone turned immediately to AI, barely checked their work, and just hit the "approve" button.

Brooke Shields Has Hilarious Reaction After She's Given Awkwardly Short Chair On 'Today' Show

People who have not performed in front of a live audience might assume that adequate rehearsal time and production planning ensure things will go smoothly.

But seasoned performers will tell you that mistakes happen, no matter how well-rehearsed or fine-tuned the project is. When the mistake is obvious enough that the audience becomes aware of it, the best thing to do is laugh it off or incorporate the mistake into the program as much as possible to keep the show going.
