Last week, President Donald Trump ordered an airstrike that killed Iran's top general, Qasem Soleimani, worsening the growing tensions between the United States and Iran.

As millions gathered to mourn Soleimani, Iranian leaders vowed to take "harsh revenge" against the United States.

It's unclear what form this revenge will take. So far, Iran has said it's no longer bound by the Obama-era nuclear agreement limiting the country's enrichment of Uranium. Hackers attributed to Iran also appeared to hack the Federal Depository Library Program website to feature an image of a battered Trump and a condemnation of the strike.

There's likely more to come, but the specifics have yet to be revealed.

Hesameddin Ashena, a leading adviser to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, may have just given us a chilling hint.

Ashena tweeted a video about Trump's real estate properties, along with a quote from Iran's late leader, the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

The quote reads:

"I tell the whole world that if the world wants to stand up to our religion, we will stand up against their whole world."

Some considered the tweet a threat to retaliate against Trump's numerous properties across the United States.

A large amount of Trump properties are hotels and resorts, which led some to urge people not to stay at the properties while tensions with Iran approach a boiling point.

The response also highlighted why a President balancing private business dealings with public duties can pose a threat to national security.

Trump has threatened to target Iranian cultural sites—a war crime—to counter any retaliation by Iran.
