Guy's Painful Deck Repair Fail Looks Like Something Straight Out Of A Cartoon

Guy's Painful Deck Repair Fail Looks Like Something Straight Out Of A Cartoon

If you've developed a penchant for taking up DIY home improvement projects during the pandemic, you might want to rethink that whole thing going forward.

Sometimes it's best to just call the experts, as one man who's become an internet sensation has no doubt learned the hard way.

A new viral video shows the man doing some repairs to his deck only to end up with a straight-up Looney Tunes-style plank to the face.

In the video, captured on an outdoor surveillance camera mounted on the house, the man was seen carrying a plank up to a hole in the deck at his house. After fitting the plank into the hole, he adjusted it with his foot and then—for reasons unknown—stepped onto it as if it were just any old plank in the floor.

What with physics being what they are and all, the plank immediately catapulted upward and smacked him square in the face as if rigged by Bugs Bunny himself, sending the man flying and grabbing his mug in pain.

The video was first uploaded to TikTok by the man's wife, named Abby, who pithily captioned it "when your husband tries to fix things he shouldn't - #keepyourdayjob."

Solid advice!

Thankfully, Abby confirmed her husband sustained no injuries—aside from a profoundly injured ego and sense of pride presumably. As she told her fellow TikTokers, she couldn't help but check the footage of the incident "after I dropped him off at the ER."

The video instantly went viral on TikTok, before making it over to Twitter, where it has picked up more than 2 million views—and, of course, become the subject of numerous memes.

One person gave it the proper Looney Tunes treatment:

And another made it the latest chapter in Twitter's classic compendium of bodily injuries set to Dave Matthews Band's "Ants Marching."

And the laughs just kept coming.

Let this be a lesson.

Until the pandemic is over and our brains aren't all fried, it's probably best to just call the professionals for those home repairs.
