**WARNING: spoilers for episode 3 of Game of Thrones

"The Long Night," the third episode of the eighth season of HBO's Game of Thrones, is still imprinted in our minds since the episode premiered two weeks ago.

If you haven't seen it yet and are trying to avoid SPOILERS, we advise you to hit your "back button" ASAP.

There were many interesting developments during the Battle of Winterfell. Arya Stark killing the Night King was one thing.

Melisandre fulfilling her purpose was another.

But what many of us really want to know is what in the world Bran Stark was doing when he warged into those ravens.

Bran is the Three Eyed Raven, the keeper and recorder of history.

According to actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, who's played Bran since the show debuted in 2011, Bran was simply "keeping tabs on the battle":

"As far as I understand it, he's just in the ravens. He's just keeping tabs on the battle. But having lots of shots of ravens flying around wouldn't be much of interest! And it would be pretty impractical for him to be like, 'Hey, Theon, can you go run over there and tell this guy to get out of the way of that guy?'"
"Bran recognises that all he can do is sit there and let whatever happens, happen. We saw how quickly all their plans disintegrated! There would have been no chance of an efficient communication system."

It seems the best thing Bran could do during the Battle of Winterfell was stay put.

But people are still at odds over what he actually did.

Hempstead Wright also batted away suggestions that Bran is, in fact, the Night King:

""The Night King is dead. I can't see how Bran is the Night King, or was the Night King."

Just what were you doing when you met the Night King, though, Bran?
