A TikToker alleged in a video that she found a hidden camera illegally placed in the bathroom of her Airbnb rental in Austin, Texas and reported her findings to the police.

User Brittany (@brittany..walsh) posted the video where she found the camera stuck inside a charging box. She then called the police and reported her findings.


“Someone’s about to catch a felony for invasive visual recording in our Airbnb bathroom," she wrote.

While our original poster has no further updates at this time, Airbnb has clarified hidden cameras in private areas are expressly prohibited.

“Airbnb strictly prohibits ‘hidden cameras’ as well as recording devices of any kind in private spaces such as bathrooms and bedrooms. We take this allegation extremely seriously and our dedicated Safety team is thoroughly investigating.”

Other commenters noted they had seen this before or this was their exact fear.

“I clean rental cabins in the gatlinburg TN area..there are cameras all over those cabins where they are not supposed to be,” wrote one user.

“Put the micro SD card in a computer. The first video should be the person who originally plugged it in,” suggested another.
