Resurfaced Video Of Oprah's Stunned Reaction To Fan Who Can't Afford A $100 Gift Sparks Debate

An old video of Oprah suggesting a jewelry box as a gift for a fan's mom has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

An old video of Oprah Winfrey giving Christmas gift advice is raising eyebrows all over TikTok.

Winfrey is of course famous for her yearly "Oprah's Favorite Things" list released each holiday season, a tradition that began on her long-running talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show and now appears on her website "Oprah Daily."

The list grew famous for Oprah's frequent inclusion of big-ticket items, which one year included a Pontiac G6 gifted to every member of her audience, spawning the "You get a car and you get a car!" catchphrase that remains a popular meme to this day.

So perhaps it's unsurprising that Winfrey's idea of an affordable gift is... well, not affordable at all for a lot of people, including a person who filmed Winfrey recommending a gift for his mother several years ago.

Winfrey's surprised reaction to the man filming telling her that a jewelry box costing "a hundred and some dollars" was too expensive has people accusing her of being out-of-touch.

Oprah knows hiw to give a sentimental gift #oprah #tv #gift #christmas #suprise

In the video clip, the man filming told Oprah his mother was "not doing well" and that he wanted to give her something special.

Winfrey told the man:

"A wonderful thing is that jewelry box I had on 'favorite things.'"

When the man countered it was too expensive for him, Winfrey replied:

"It's not. It's really not. It's like a hundred and some dollars."

When the man again told Winfrey the jewelry box was over his budget, she looked incredulous and responded:

"Lower than $100?!"

Yes, Oprah, some of us need gifts "lower than $100." We're not all billionaire media moguls!

On TikTok, Winfrey's reaction didn't go over very well with many commenters.

To her credit, Winfrey did come up with a very sweet alternate idea for the man that cost nothing at all--a "list of the top 10 reasons you love her" along with a handmade card. What mom wouldn't love that?

She may be a billionaire, but at least Winfrey still has a heart.

MAGA Senator Slammed After Scolding Americans For Whining About High Gas Prices Amid Iran War—And Wow

Kansas Republican Senator Roger Marshall chastised Americans for complaining about high gas prices and insisted they should consider that their "national security is even more important" than whatever blows are being dealt to their wallets at the gas pump.

Consumer prices are up 3.3% compared to a year ago, largely fueled by a surge in energy costs. The energy index jumped 10.9% in a single month as oil and gas prices climbed sharply. Amid the Iran war and the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, oil has risen back to around $100 a barrel, pushing gasoline prices up by a record 25%.

Kid Goes Viral After Leaving Sweet Note On Plane For The Person Sitting In Their Seat On The Next Flight

A lot is going on in our world right now that gives us pause, and some of us might feel our hearts breaking under the weight of all of it. That makes acts of kindness, no matter how small they are, more important than ever before.

X user @oatmilkanie shouted out an unidentified child who clearly got the memo when they boarded a plane and discovered that the child had written a note for the next person to sit in their seat, directly on the paper nausea bag that's snuggled in the seat pocket in front of the passenger's knees.

Woman Creeped All The Way Out After Finding Hidden Door In The Ceiling Of Her Airbnb

A lot of us already cannot sleep well when we're visiting someone else's home or staying in a hotel, because we're uncomfortable in a different bed and maybe even a little creeped out in the unusual space.

But discovering a whole other room with a creepy door would quickly transform a space from a rental to something out of a horror movie real quick for anybody.
