People Explain Which Things They Consider To Be A Huge Waste Of Money

People Explain Which Things They Consider To Be A Huge Waste Of Money

The other night, my friends and I were having a conversation about AirPods. Nothing against them per se––you do you, boo––but they cost a ridiculous amount of money and are very easy to lose. On top of that, now there are straps for the AirPods on the market... you might as well have gotten a pair of headphones.

After Redditor easywaycentre asked the online community, "What do you consider a huge waste of money?" people weighed in. The things that people spend their money on never cease to amaze me.

"Seriously..."

Buying designer clothes for babies. Seriously, your 6 month old is going to out grow those $75 Nikes in like two weeks.

"Sometimes..."

Any warranties on cheap items. Sometimes the warranty itself can equal upwards of almost 25% of the product's full retail price. And I'm not being even remotely hyperbolic when I say this.

"Do your own thing..."

In the music production hobby - anyone selling you a dream.

Rule of thumb for the amateur crowd is that if they are selling you how to make your music better, they are legit. If they are selling you how to become famous, it's a scam.

Do your own thing and focus on the music. Once your music is really good you'll have more time to think about it, but there are so many people putting the marketing before the music.

It seems like every other ad I see is some private course on how to become a famous musician, from musicians I never heard of.

HandHoldingClub

"My family..."

Scratch-offs. My family all buy each other a bunch every Christmas and no one ever wins more than a couple dollars. It's basically a family tradition to set a couple hundred dollars on fire and when it's a pile of ash announce, "Well at least we had fun doing it!"

Ryguy55

"They are only expensive..."

Diamonds. They are only expensive because the people who sell the diamonds have a monopoly and only release small amounts of diamonds, creative artificial scarcity. It's like if copper costed 1000 times as much as it does, and everybody thought that having a ring made of it is a huge symbol of love because some famous people told their parents and grandparents so.

BZZBBZ

"It's disgusting."

Election campaigns.

All that money they waste, just to try to combat the lazy ignorance of masses of people who can't be bothered to research a candidate's personal record and platform.

Think of all the good things that money could be doing for the American people.

It's disgusting.

GingerMau

"I see my coworkers..."

Buying a meal out every day. I see my coworkers go buy lunch and complain how expensive it was or lament about what to order for dinner every night. Buy yourself some damn ingredients and make a week's worth for the price of one meal out!

Akire32

"I've never been to a casino..."

Gambling. I've never been to a casino because if I even lost 1 dollar I would feel like a total idiot.

sometribe

"There are so many better things..."

Expensive weddings. There are so many better things a newlywed couple can do with 5000$+ than throwing a party they likely won't even enjoy.

MostDopeTurtle

"My mother-in-law..."

Expensive haircuts. My mother-in-law pays $400-$600 every month for a cut, treatment, and some stupid "Brazilian blow out" so every time she says she's on the way to the hairdresser I cringe a little inside.

Trump Dragged After Floating Wild Conspiracy For Why Daughter Tiffany's College Graduation Was Canceled

President Donald Trump had people shaking their heads after he claimed during remarks at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum on Wednesday that he doesn't think his daughter Tiffany's graduation from Georgetown University in 2020 was actually canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump is of course no stranger to COVID-19 conspiracy theories—he made them a hallmark of his first term, when his administration oversaw and dangerously bungled the pandemic response—but this time he's brought his youngest daughter into the mix.

Dem Senator Drops F-Bomb In Fiery Video After Trump Calls For Congressional Democrats To Be Hanged

Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said "maybe it's time to pick a f**king side" in response to President Donald Trump's call for a group of congressional Democrats who are military veterans to be executed after they reminded U.S. troops that they must disobey unlawful orders.

Senators Elissa Slotkin (Michigan) and Mark Kelly (Arizona) joined Representatives Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan (Pennsylvania), Maggie Goodlander (New Hampshire), and Jason Crow (Colorado), all of whom are veterans. In a video message, they noted that the Trump administration is "pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens."

Woman Rejects Boyfriend's Proposal After He Bought $900 Ring From Walmart—And The Internet Has Thoughts

Relationships can dissolve for all kinds of reasons, but a key reason that's become more popular with the prevalence of TikTok and Reddit is not staying with someone who doesn't listen to their partner or prioritize their needs.

Knowing a person's favorite song or how they take their coffee might seem like a mundane thing, but it's an intimate detail that shows that you care about your partner's likes and interests.

Family Goes Viral After Throwing Hilariously Dramatic Funeral For Child's Pacifier

All children grow and develop at different rates. Whether they crawl earlier, walk later, have trouble letting go of the baby bottle, or just cannot get behind the idea of mushed green beans, each child will have a journey all their own.

But an experience that more families than not know is the very real attachment many babies and toddlers develop to their favorite beloved pacifier.
