TikToker @pop.tart22 shared her hack for opening a bottle of wine without a corkscrew by using a flat iron—and people's minds' are blown.

Sometimes, you have to wonder how people come up with some of the life hacks, kitchen hacks, and cleaning hacks that they share—but other times, you just have to shake your head in amazement.

That's undoubtedly how some TikTokers were left feeling after TikToker @pop.tart22 revealed a new way to open a bottle of wine without ever using a corkscrew: by using her flat iron hair straightener instead.

The text overlay on the video reads:

"When life gives you wine but no corkscrew, just straighten things out!"

In the video, the TikToker places a bottle of what appears to be a pink rosé wine on her kitchen counter before also producing her flat iron. She clasps the flat iron plates around the neck of the bottle, the same way you'd clamp in a thin section of hair, but then instead of running it down, she holds the hair straightener in place.

As the video continues, the cork in the wine bottle slowly begins to rise up, changing shape because of the combination of the applied heat and slightly changing pressure in the bottle itself. With enough patience, the TikToker clasps the hair straightener in one hand and gently pulls the cork as it contorts out of the bottle.

Obviously, a lot of TikTokers were very impressed with the hack.

Others admitted that they never would have thought to try this.

For those who might be skeptical of the hack, this is one of those ingenious hacks that actually works because of the shift in temperatures and pressure.

When a person uses a tradition corkscrew to remove the cork, they first screw the corkscrew into the cork itself, and when they use the handles, they forcefully pull the cork up from the bottle, and the loud popping noise that often happens is due to the pressure created between the cork and the wine.

The applied heat from the hair straightener shifts the pressure in the bottle, but it also contorts the cork, which is why it becomes increasingly misshapen in the TikTok video.

It's a great example of using everyday object and a little bit of science when you're in a pinch.

Just be careful not to burn yourself!

Former Mace Staffers Claim She Had Them Create Fake Social Media Accounts To Praise Her

According to several former staffers for South Carolina Republican Representative for Nancy Mace, Mace had them create fake social media accounts—a "bot army," if you will—to monitor chatter about her online and to "bolster her image."

The aides say that Mace, who plays a key role in shaping GOP policy on technology and workforce issues as chair of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, demonstrates a disconnect between the high expectations for her leadership in these complex policy areas and her demonstrated expertise in the technical details.

Harvard President Gets Standing Ovation After Subtle Jab At Trump During Graduation Speech

Harvard University President Alan M. Garber received a standing ovation after he subtly jabbed the Trump administration over its attack on foreign students during his commencement speech on Thursday.

Garber spoke after the Trump administration announced last week that it would suspend Harvard's ability to enroll international students, striking at a key revenue stream. The move marked a significant escalation in the administration’s broader campaign to pressure elite universities to align themselves with President Donald Trump’s political agenda.

The world may have shrunk significantly with the arrival of the internet and social media, but it's still big enough that when you're traveling, you never know who you might possibly meet, especially if you take a chance and put yourself out there.

While waiting for her delayed flight from D.C. to New York to take off after being held on the tarmac for hours, TikToker Caroline (@ygdunlap) did some work on her laptop and then, bored, decided to turn to her seatmate, an older man, for a polite conversation to pass the time.

Georgia High School Shuts Down 'The Crucible' Production After Parents Complain It's 'Demonic'

Fannin County High School has faced scrutiny in the past few weeks after its treatment of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, which is a dramatic and fictional retelling of the Salem Witch Trials, as well as a commentary on McCarthyism.

The opening scene, which features witches dancing in a "possessed" manner, was included in the Fannin County adaptation, and has historically been included or cut at the discretion of the director.
