In a huge move to address the crippling cost of students going into the medical profession New York University School of Medicine announced they will offer full scholarships to all current and future students.
The announcement came as wonderful surprise during the annual first-year medical students White Coat Ceremony Kenneth G. Langone, chair of the board of trustees said:
I'm proud to announce that as of right now, every student that we admit to New York University School of Medicine comes tuition-free and this includes the incoming class and the upperclassmen as well that are here right now — no more tuition.
Needless to say the news was meant with cheers.
The move has been praised by many.
It's a step in the right direction and a long time coming.
We hope that other higher learning institutions follow the lead.
