Bill Nye the Science Guy Just Explained Global Warming to Adults, and This Time He's Dropping F Bombs All Over the Place

No more Mr. Nice Nye.

In Sunday night's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the HBO program host enlisted the aid of Bill Nye the Science Guy. Nye—who holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell—is best known for teaching children the basics of science on his Emmy winning television show.

But his appearance on HBO Sunday was strictly for the adults. Oliver asked Nye to explain carbon pricing as it relates to climate change and global warming.

Oliver did a segment on the Green New Deal for his program, which can be seen in its entirety at the end of this article. Oliver wanted to clear up the misinformation campaign rhetoric spread by those opposed to it and clarify:

"...what it is, what it isn’t and, most importantly, where we should maybe go from here."

Nye's full appearance on the program can be viewed here.

At the very end of the segment when Oliver again threw things over to the science educator, Nye stated:

"By the end of this century, if emissions keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another four to eight degrees."

He added:

"What I’m saying is the planet’s on fucking fire. There are a lot of things we could do to put it out—are any of them free? No, of course not. Nothing’s free, you idiots."

Nye explained why a revenue generating solution—like the Green New Deal—was needed to address climate change brought on by global warming.

He continued:

"Grow the fuck up. You’re not children anymore. I didn’t mind explaining photosynthesis to you when you were 12. But you’re adults now, and this is an actual crisis, got it? Safety glasses off, motherfuckers."

Oliver—after saying we had broken Bill Nye—endorsed the "gritty new reboot."

Others were on board with Nye's no nonsense facts too. Clips of Nye's comments quickly made it to social media.

Although some took exception to the language and missed the message, but others pointed it out.

The Green New Deal economic stimulus plan was proposed by New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts Democratic Senator Edward J. Markey.

The Republican controlled Senate took a pass on the proposal in March to the surprise of no one, but several 2020 presidential candidates embraced it.

The Green New Deal currently has support from Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand, all Democrats or independents.

Lauren Boebert Casts Doubt On Moon Landing During Wild Interview With Conspiracy Theorist

Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert was criticized after she seemingly agreed with the conspiracy theory that the moon landing was faked in a wide-ranging interview with conservative conspiracy theorist Alex Stein.

The segment began with the duo casting doubt on nuclear weapons—Boebert even joked about needing "tin foil"—and moved into weirder territory when Stein praised Boebert for "vibing" with him on the topic of the moon landing. Conspiracy theorists have long alleged the moon landing was fabricated by NASA in what they claim was an elaborate hoax.

Rosie O'Donnell Calls Out Oprah For Attending Jeff Bezos' Wedding In Scathing Poem

Among the various celebrity hangers-on who attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's Venice wedding, the one that seemed to generate the most controversy was Oprah Winfrey.

After all, a woman known for her progressive politics whose entire ethos is about teaching people how to be their best selves, attending the wedding of man who directly funded a fascist regime dismantling our country before our eyes doesn't exactly add up.

Things People Initially Found Attractive About Their Partner That Now Annoy Them

Being in a relationship can be wonderful, but it's not without its ups and downs.

In order for it to work, we have to allow it to grow and change over time rather than being locked forever into what it was when we first started dating our person.
