MTG Slammed After Using Deadly Storm To Mock Hillary Clinton

MAGA Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was called out after making a joke on X, formerly Twitter, about Tropical Storm Hilary at the expense of Hillary Clinton.

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene found herself under a barrage of social media criticism on Sunday after attempting to use Tropical Storm Hilary as a means to take a dig at her frequent GOP target, Hillary Clinton.

Greene retweeted a meme that depicted the former Democratic presidential candidate's head superimposed onto a map tracking the path of the storm, which caused significant damage in Southern California and elsewhere after making landfall on Sunday.

However, instead of discussing the serious impact of the storm, Greene chose to use the natural disaster as fodder for her political agenda.

Her accompanying caption used the spelling for Clinton instead of the storm and read:

“Hillary downgraded to a tropical storm. She can’t even succeed as a hurricane but likely still deadly. First tropical storm in 84 years, stay safe California!"

You can see Greene's tweet below.

While the intent behind Greene's tweet might have been to elicit ridicule of Clinton, it ended up sparking a wave of backlash on social media, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), where the original post was shared.

Tropical Storm Hilary, the first to strike Southern California in 84 years, caused extensive damage as it swept through the region.

The storm flooded roads, uprooted trees, and necessitated the rescue of numerous elderly residents trapped by mud in a care facility. As Hilary continued its journey northward, flood watches and warnings were issued for several states.

Although the National Hurricane Center in Miami reported that Hilary had significantly weakened and its impact had lessened, remnants of the storm were still making their way over the Rocky Mountains.

Despite the storm's diminished strength, the center issued a cautionary statement indicating that significant flooding with life-threatening consequences was still anticipated across portions of the Southwestern U.S. This prediction follows unprecedented levels of rainfall.
