That Mass Presidential Text Alert Was Prime Fodder For Some Epic Jokes 😂

October 3, 2018 marked an important day in America (and, no, I'm not talking about Mean Girls day day).

At precisely 2:18 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Americans with cell phones received an emergency alert. The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a system that broadcasts alerts on televisions and cell phones to alert people of emergencies like AMBER alerts and inclement weather.

But yesterday, a new kind of alert was issued through the EAS. That's right, President Trump utilized the brand-new Presidential Alert feature.

The new Presidential Alert system is actually called the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). IPAWS is the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) program intended to take national alerts into the 21st century.

It is a way for officials

"to provide the public with life-saving information quickly."

Typically people don't mind if their phone's interrupt their day with inclement weather warnings or descriptions of missing children. However, yesterday was the exception.

While it wasn't technically a text message, Americans are not so sure they like the idea of Trump having the power to personally message them whenever he wants.

The system is only supposed to be used in cases of emergency, and luckily there is a law from 2015 that confirms that. But, of course, Trump seems to think he's above all of that, so who's to say that he won't ignore this law?

Ignoring the law and sending alerts on a whim is exactly what people are worried about.

But the best way to deal with Trump's nonsense is through humor, and this particular Covfefe lent itself perfectly to getting memed.

People imagined what Trump's next alert might say.

Others thought up what they wished Trump would alert us with.

Others decided to take the opportunity to create their own very important Emergency Alert.

But one meme had a very real warning for all.

AOC Saves The Day By Giving Bronx Middle School Group A Tour Of The Capitol Amid Shutdown

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had people cheering after she stepped in to act as tour guide after a group of middle schoolers from the Bronx pulled up to the Capitol hours after the U.S. government officially shut down.

The federal government shut down early Wednesday after the White House and Congress failed to reach an agreement on federal spending. While Senate Democrats are in the minority, they hold enough seats to filibuster and are insisting that Republicans agree to extend federal subsidies for people insured under the Affordable Care Act.

GOP Lawmaker Sparks Outrage After Calling For Dem Rep. To Be Executed For Urging People To Protest Trump

On Wednesday, September 25, an Arizona MAGA Republican state Representative publicly called for the execution of Washington Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal because she urged anyone displeased with MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's job performance to exercise their First Amendment right to free speech and to protest.

Apparently, urging citizens to make their voices heard was a step too far for Arizona state GOP Representative John Gillette, who responded to a clip edited out of a longer video by right-wing account The Patriot Oasis (TPO). A quick scan through Gillette's X account media posts will reveal his political leanings.

Liberal TikToker Mortified After Discovering That Her Therapist Is Hardcore MAGA

There used to be a time where politics did not have to come into every room or be a part of every conversation. But in a world with President Trump and MAGA, it's not as simple as being Red, Blue, or Green anymore.

Now, the sociopolitical climate is dangerous for many people and still very stress-inducing for others. It's important to surround ourselves with people who make us feel safe and seen—and unfortunately, that might mean cutting out people who have "different beliefs" than we do.
