Liz Cheney Just Came Up With the Saddest Tagline Ever for the Post-Trump Republican Party

Liz Cheney Just Came Up With the Saddest Tagline Ever for the Post-Trump Republican Party
NBC

Despite being the third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) sparked widespread backlash within the party for denouncing former President Donald Trump.

After Trump's lies regarding the 2020 election prompted a mob of his extremist supporters to storm the United States Capitol, resulting in the deaths of five people, Cheney said in a statement that Trump "summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack."

She then became one of only 10 House Republicans to join all House Democrats in voting to impeach Trump for inciting an insurrection.

The consequences were almost immediate. Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went to Cheney's district to denounce her, and she was censured by her home state's Republican party. Growing calls from pro-Trump representatives to remove her as the Republican Conference Leader resulted in a secret vote that ended with allowing Cheney to keep her position.

Cheney isn't backing down in her criticism of Trump.

Trump delivered a speech at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend where he once again pushed the lie that widespread voter fraud orchestrated by Democrats "stole" the election from him. He once again slammed former Vice President Mike Pence for not unilaterally throwing out the electoral votes of swing states Trump lost, despite Pence not having the power to do so.

Cheney took Trump to task for the comments in an interview with Meet the Press.

Cheney said:

"The former president is using the same language that he knows provoked violence on January 6th. As a party, we need to be focused on the future. We need to be focused on embracing the Constitution — not embracing insurrection."

Cheney's call for the Republican party to "embrace the Constitution, not embracing insurrection" was a sadly fitting slogan for today's GOP.

Like clockwork, pro-Trump Republicans sounded off against her

Constitution, not insurrection, indeed.

We Just Got Our First Look At The Official Popcorn Bucket For 'The Odyssey'—And Everyone Is Making The Same Joke

At this point, movie studios aren't competing at the box office. They're competing to see who can create the most unhinged popcorn bucket.

We've had giant sandworms. We've had oversized Deadpool & Wolverine helmets. We've had designer handbags full of popcorn. We even somehow survived the predictably lackluster Melania Trump popcorn bucket era. Now, The Odyssey has entered the chat with a Trojan Horse popcorn bucket, because apparently subtlety died somewhere around 2024.

'X-Men' Star Has Important Wakeup Call For Men After Revealing He's Been Diagnosed With 'Super Rare' Breast Cancer

Breast cancer does not discriminate between people. While it is more common in women, one out of 755 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Because "breasts" are associated with women, people—including doctors—often do not recognize early signs of breast cancer in men, so they are less likely to be diagnosed until a later stage, which makes treatment more difficult.
