Homeschool Mom Dragged After She Can't Figure Out Simple Lesson In Kindergarten Workbook

TikToker and mom @jaredhmelende, who is about to school her young son, turned to TikTok after she couldn't figure out an activity page in a kindergarten workbook—and viewers are begging her not to homeschool.

Homeschooling is not for everybody—parents and students alike—and that's okay!

But viewers of TikToker @jaredhmelende's video requesting their help with a kindergarten workbook lesson had them urging her to reconsider her decision to be her child's at-home educator.

The creator took to the platform in search of some clarification when she couldn't figure out answers to a kinder-level phonics activity.

@jaredhmelende started her TikTok:

“We’re going to start home school soon, but tell me if I’m just dumb or I don’t understand this."

She first read the instructions on the train-themed worksheet about matching ending consonants.

"Find two words on each train that end with the same sound. Circle them. Then write the letter of the ending sound in the caboose."

The first row displayed images of a rug, a horse and a flag.

Of course, rug and flag both end with the "g" sound.

But the TikToker wasn't seeing it.

"So, it says find two words on each train, but none of these have the same sound."

She asked viewers:

"Like, what the f**k am I doing wrong?"

The creator went to another set of pictures but got the same results with "kite," "spoon" and "sun."

The pattern continued until finally @jaredhmelende asked once and for all:

"What the hell am I doing wrong?"

Many also emphasized the importance, as well as the value, of trained teachers.

There were a few, however, who thought the instructions could have been a little clearer (although it does require one to thoroughly read through them and know what a 'consonant' is).

The creator did post a follow-up video revealing she was looking for rhyming matches instead of words with the same final sound, noting:

“Now, if this would’ve said [‘letter’ instead of ‘sound’], then I would’ve been ok."

While the follow-up didn't change a lot of minds in the comments, we appreciate the clarification.

Good luck!

Ivanka Trump was criticized over her tone-deaf plans to develop Sazan Island, an off-grid island off the coast of Albania, into a private resort with her husband, Jared Kushner.

The development will reportedly include 10,000 hotel rooms and villas along a stretch of ecologically sensitive coastline encompassing the Vjosa-Narta lagoon and the nearby island of Sazan. According to Newsweek, the resort "spans wetlands and coastal habitats known for supporting bird migration routes and marine wildlife, which environmental groups say could be at risk."
