After years of struggling with addiction, Jessica Simpson has come clean about her Ellen appearance in her new memoir.

Jessica Simpson recently released Open Book, a memoir that details the struggles she faced while in the public eye.

While promoting the memoir on The Today Show, she began to open up about her regrets.

Specifically, the infamous guest spot on The Ellen Degeneres Show back in May 2017.

This particular episode of Ellen spotlighted Simpson, while she was in a very obviously altered state. During the interview, she continually slurs her words, and says things that, well, you shouldn't say on national television.

"We have an IUD. Nothing's gonna get in that uterus," she says to Ellen in regards to pregnancy rumors.

This was one of the many strange phrases that Simpson said on the show, which left her fans very confused and concerned, to say the least.

Nearly three years later, Simpson spoke to The Today Show about the appearance, and the catalyst that led to the awkwardness.

"I can't even watch the interview. It was a weak moment for me and I wasn't in the right place. I had started a spiral and I couldn't catch up with myself … and that was with alcohol."

She elaborates more on her struggles with addiction in her memoir. An advance excerpt of the book was provided to People Magazine.

"I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills. Quitting was the easy part. I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb."

While Simpson's interview with Ellen was, indeed, cringey, the first step to getting help is admitting you have a problem. She intends to show the world a new side of her in her book.

"People are really gonna understand me for the first time. They're gonna see everything I have gone through, and all the fear and the struggles that I did face, and how I came through on the other side."

Twitter exploded with reactions to her confession.

Regardless, what's important is that Simpson is on a road to recovery, and is open to sharing her story with the world. Hopefully, she inspires others to take that first step too.

Viral Video Of Dad Performing Emotional 'Last Bite' Ritual With His Daughter On Her Wedding Day Has Us Sobbing

While a person's wedding day is meant to be a celebration of their love and starting a new life with their partner, it's also important to remember the life they're leaving "behind," specifically the household that raised them.

In a video that's gone viral multiple times before, a Chinese father presents his daughter, who is about to be married, with a bowl of dumplings. He then selects one dumpling and feeds it to her, as a reminder of how he raised her and symbolizing that this is the last time he'll take care of her before she becomes a married woman.
