Move over King Kong. There's a new beast in Gotham who's causing quite a stir.
Actor and singer Jared Leto took his marketing strategy to new heights when promoting his band Thirty Seconds to Mars' upcoming Seasons world tour next year.
The Morbius actor was spotted wearing a red jumpsuit and scaling the side of New York City's Empire State Building on Thursday morning.
He also set a record by becoming the first person to legally climb to the top of the 1,250-foot tall Art Deco skyscraper.
In a press release, the 51-year-old said of the iconic structure built in 1930:
“The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, ‘It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.’”
Here is a footage of the death-defying stunt.

"I made it. I’m alive," he said.
He also recalled seeing a delightful sight during his ascent.
"I made it to the top, and I was just saying, I saw my mother in the window of the 80th floor, that was a nice surprise."
"My mom came to visit."
Leto added:
"We just put an album out called It’s the End of the World But It’s a Beautiful Day."
"So it was in celebration of the tour and, you know, doing those things that you aspire to do."
Wow, it was undoubtedly impressive, people wondered why he went to such extremes to promote his band's tour.
For Leto, climbing the Empire State Building is not a one-and-done feat.
He aspires to conquer other elevations.
"I spend a lot of time in Yosemite, so that’s a special place," he said of the California national park known for El Capitan–the 3,000-foot vertical granite monolith popular among rock climbing enthusiasts.
"There are a lot of things I want to do there," said Leto, adding:
"But I do like to climb buildings in cities, that’s a really fun thing to do."
Until then, Leto will join his bandmates in March to kick off their Seasonsworld tourat Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires with stops including Copenhagen, Paris, Madrid and Auckland.
The North American leg of the tour—which will feature music guests AFI, Poppy, and KennyHoopla—will start on July 26 at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington.
The tour will conclude on September 4 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.
