Oprah Winfrey Sparks Debate After Sharing Untold Story About Whitney Houston Falling Off Stage On Her Show
Jun 25, 2026
Oprah Winfrey recently spoke at Cannes Lions about her success as a TV show host and personality, while focusing on the dedication and loyalty of her studio audiences over the years.
The example she used to demonstrate her audience's loyalty involved the final time Whitney Houston appeared on her show.
The second-to-last time that Winfrey saw Houston, the pair discussed what they both wanted to gain from their upcoming interview, which Winfrey later claimed to be one of the most powerful interviews she'd ever conducted.
According to Winfrey, Houston had gone through rehab and was committed to her sobriety at the time of that interview, but when Houston returned for her last performance on the show, Winfrey was suspicious that she had relapsed.
Winfrey recounted:
"I think it was her last show with us, and she had gone back on drugs."
"The first interview I did with her when we'd gone behind stage, and I asked her about her intention, she was clean, but the day she came to my show then to perform in front of the audience, she was not."
"She fell off of the stage."
"I knew if that story got out, she would be destroyed by that."
"So even though the audience was there and the audience had cameras, I begged them not to put those pictures out, because it would ruin her life."
"They did not. And that would not happen today, I can tell you that."
You can watch the clip here:
As the clip circulated online, people could understand Winfrey wanting to reflect on the power and commitment of her audience over the years, but they questioned the example she used, or why she didn't at least censor who the incident involved.
In particular on the "Pop Culture Chat" subReddit, Redditors challenged why she'd be worried about Houston's reputation in life but not respect her memory and legacy after her death.
"Sooo NOW you're sharing it??" - Ssspppaaaccceeesss
"What happened to respecting those who have passed and keeping things that should not be out there? So f**king tacky." - Different_Daikon3400
"She was 'so protective' of Whitney's reputation, and yet, here she is... telling us all about it." - freckyfresh
"Huh? What’s the point of protecting Whitney by asking the audience not to publicize it, when you’re just going to blab it to the general public on your huge platform anyway?" - ALLoftheFancyPants
"I feel like she could have told this story and made her point about her audience being respectful, having empathy, and listening when asked not to post photos of the incident without saying explicitly that it was Whitney. She could have just said it was a celebrity." - HumbleBell
Even Whitney Houston's estate got involved, responding to the story Winfrey told at Cannes Lions.
"From the 2009 interview on the 'Oprah Winfrey show,' Whitney absolutely fell off stage."
"It was during a sound check, and it was due to the darkness of the area and her unfamiliarity with the stage. She was absolutely not high."
"Like many people, she faced personal battles, but it is inaccurate and unfair to attach that struggle to every performance or every chapter of her life."
"What the studio audience witnessed on stage was the result of discipline, talent, and commitment, not the assumptions others project. Whitney’s humanity included triumphs and struggles, but on that day, she showed up as the professional and gifted artist she always worked to be."
"We owe her the dignity of telling the truth, not repeating myths."
Fans of Whitney Houston showed their support of preserving her memory.

Though Winfrey was trying to make a point about her audience and how she could depend on them, fans couldn't help but question her approach to getting that point across.

Tom Holland Helps Zendaya Avoid A Wardrobe Malfunction In Front Of Photographers In Viral Video—And Fans Are Swooning
Jun 25, 2026
Holy almost-wardrobe malfunction, Spider-Man!
Tom Holland and Zendaya continued proving why they're one of Hollywood's favorite on- and off-screen couples after sharing a sweet moment during a Spider-Man: Brand New Day press stop in Rome.
Zendaya debuted another standout press tour look, wearing a vintage Giorgio Armani dress from the designer's 1990 collection. The sheer tulle gown featured a delicate web motif embroidered with beaded insects—a fitting nod to the franchise—while her softly waved bob added an Old Hollywood-inspired finish. Holland complemented the look with a maroon suit and matching tie.
Iconic stylist Law Roach shared a closer look at the latest press tour ensemble here:
But when Holland noticed Zendaya holding the top of her dress in place, he avoided drawing attention to the moment by gently turning her away from the cameras. After Zendaya appeared to mouth something to him, Holland motioned for her to face him, giving her a moment of privacy to adjust the dress before the couple continued down the carpet hand in hand.
You can catch that moment here:

Law Roach would be so proud!
The interaction quickly went viral, with fans praising Holland's attentiveness and calling it another example of the couple's effortless chemistry. The 30-year-old British actor recently reflected on sharing the screen with his real-life partner while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
During an appearance on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, Holland commented:
“I couldn't imagine doing what I do without her. We had an amazing moment on 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' And it's only because of our relationship that this happened.”
Cameras also caught another lighthearted moment on the carpet between the secret newlyweds as Holland called out to Zendaya using her middle name, Maree, as she spoke with a reporter.
Prepare to swoon at this sweet clip below:
Zendaya, whose full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, turned and responded before continuing the interview.
And the internet had plenty to say about Holland's wardrobe save:
Meanwhile, Zendaya and longtime stylist Law Roach have continued making headlines throughout the film's press tour with a string of memorable fashion moments.
One of the most talked-about looks came during the Spider-Man: Brand New Day photocall in Paris, where Zendaya transformed an oversized vintage Spider-Man T-shirt into a mini dress. Roach later revealed on his Instagram Stories that the vintage 2XL shirt was purchased on eBay for just $34.99, sharing a screenshot of the listing.
Law Roach wrote alongside the find:
"Style doesn't always have to cost a fortune."
Zendaya paired the black graphic T-shirt, featuring the iconic superhero in his signature pose, with white stilettos, dangling silver earrings, and a watch. She completed the look with her hair pulled back and side-swept bangs, along with a brown smoky eye and glossy lips.
Between Holland's thoughtful red carpet save and Zendaya's standout fashion moments, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour continues to give Marvel fans plenty to talk about.

Will Ferrell Credits Molly Shannon With Saving 'SNL' With One Of Her Iconic Characters In Poignant Hollywood Walk Of Fame Speech
Jun 25, 2026
Picture this: Will Ferrell was just three episodes into his premiere on Saturday Night Live.
He join the show right after the SNL team decided to do a clean sweep and let go of its full cast, despite the previous era being one most fans deemed the funniest and most creative, with Adam Sandler, the late Chris Farley, the late Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, and Rob Schneider, aka the "Bad Boys of SNL."
Because of this, many media outlets were calling it "Saturday Night Dead" and counting down its days. Looking back, Ferrell was admittedly among them, wondering how long his stint would last.
But that was when Molly Shannon entered, and everything changed.
This week, Will Ferrell stepped up to the podium and paid tribute to Shannon prior to the unveiling of her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In his speech, he focused on their time together on SNL and, and how he felt that Shannon saved the day.
Ferrell reflected:
"I want to paint a picture: The date is October 28th, 1995."
"It is the fourth episode of the 1995 to 1996 season of SNL."
"We are a brand new cast. It's only our fourth show. No one knows us or if we're any good or if anyone even likes the show anymore."
"It's coming out of a low ebb, 'Saturday Night Dead' were some of the headlines, and we're out there, just kind of throwing things up to see what's going to happen."
"But that night, the host is Gabriel Byrne, and that's the first time we get to see Mary Katherine Gallagher [Shannon's character]."
"I was in the beginning of the sketch, singing 'Sending Out an SOS' by The Police, and I had to run to do a quick change."
"As I was changing, I'm hearing Molly perform the character, and I'm feeling the stands shake with laughter, to the point that I thought, 'Oh my god, I haven't heard laughter like this so far in the three shows we've done.'"
He continued:
"It hit me, and it was such an emotional moment, because I remember thinking, 'Oh, we're gonna be okay. Molly has saved us! Like, at least we have one funny character...'"
"And from that moment on, it was such a momentum change."
"What was so great about Mary Katherine is that it was a trademark of what you [Molly Shannon] do: the character was funny, real, dark in moments... It was an outsider who dreamed, which is what I think you bring to so much of your work."
"It was a moment I'll never forget. It was literally the catalyst for us to continue on, and it was a catalyst for you [Shannon], and you've gone on to have, and continue to have, the most amazing career in everything you do."
"I think Molly Shannon saved 'Saturday Night Live'; I'll say it, right there!"
You can watch Will Ferrell's speech here:
Shannon then stepped forward, kneeled for the unveiling of the star, and clapped enthusiastically in excitement when it was visible to the crowd. She then struck the iconic pose that Mary Katherine Gallagher, an awkward girl with a dream, would strike every time she danced in front of a crowd of people.
Shannon also did some of the usual poses that actors do with their stars, like sitting on the ground with it and posing while standing just at the top point of the star. But then she struck one more Mary Katherine pose, this time going into a full bend, her knee touching the point of the star.
You can see Shannon with her Hollywood Walk of Fame star here:
Fans were happy to see Shannon get the recognition they agreed she deserved.
Everyone has their own sense of humor, but Shannon's—and Ferrell's—styles were exactly what the Saturday Night Live community needed when they joined the show.
Some of SNL's best memories are centered around recurring characters, and Mary Katherine Gallagher is surely one who will go down in comedic history.

Ariana Grande Has Hilariously Iconic Reaction After Accidentally Sharing NSFW Photo On Instagram
Jun 25, 2026
At this point, most of us have had the experience at least once of letting someone look through our photos and realizing that—oops—there's some adult content in there.
Now imagine making that mistake in an Instagram photo dump. While also being one of the most famous people in the world.
That's what happened to singer and actor Ariana Grande after she accidentally included a shot of her bare breast in an IG photo carousel.

But unlike most of us who'd immediately delete it and run away screaming, Grande's response has fans applauding.
In the photo, Grande is crouching down to pet a dog in a light gingham dress.
But at least presumably unbeknownst to her, the dress was gaping open at the neck in that position. Look closely, and you can see Grande's entire breast exposed.
Or at least, it seems that way. Some theorized it's actually just a combination of shadows and light shining through the fabric that just LOOKS like her breast.
Either way, Grande's fans definitely caught it.
But Grande seems totally unfazed. For starters, the photo is still live in the photo dump she posted as of this writing.
Seems Instagram itself hasn't even noticed, since a "nip slip" of this magnitude would definitely be a terms of service violation for the app.
But just in case there was any confusion over whether Grande was embarrassed or ashamed, she reposted the photo to her Instagram Story to make sure no one missed it.
But she didn't stop there. She also reposted an iconic skit she filmed in 2023 with her former Nickelodeon costar Elizabeth Gillies, with whom she appeared in the show Victorious in the 2010s.
In the skit, Grande and Gillies reimagine the infamous scene in the notoriously campy film Showgirls in which Gina Gershon compliments Elisabeth Berkeley's breasts.
Grande played Berkeley's character Nomi Malone, with Gillies playing Gershon's Cristal Connors.
In the scene, with the film's hilarious lack of subtlety, Cristal Connors tells Nomi Malone:
"You have great t*ts. They're really beautiful."
To which Malone responds with a proud, "thank you" as the two toast their champagne.
Grande defiantly reposting the scene had people applauding even harder than they did when she posted the original photo.
Grande is currently touring, with her The Eternal Sunshine Tour heading to Austin, Boston, Chicago and a lengthy residency in London, among other cities. Her new album petal drops in the middle of the tour on July 31.
As for her "nip slip," it's hard to argue with her fans—it IS just a breast, and it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.
But then, the fact that it's a big deal is the whole reason we're all enjoying her hilariously nonchalant response. Silver linings!

GOP Senator Perfectly Rips Jeanine Pirro Over Her Vow To Prosecute Alleged Reflecting Pool 'Vandals' In Mic Drop Rant
Jun 25, 2026
During a press gaggle on Capitol Hill, North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis took a moment to effectively ask the administration of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, "What the f...‽."
More specifically, Senator Tillis addressed statements made on Sunday by the former Fox News host Trump appointed as United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro.
In an appearance on Fox News' The Sunday Briefing, Pirro said:
"Anyone who is in a position of vandalizing or attempting to vandalize the Reflecting Pool will face the criminal justice system in D.C.. Look, the President has made it a priority to make D.C. not only safe, but beautiful."
Speaking to reporters in a hallway, Tillis stated:
"What freakin’ parallel universe did I wake up in?"
You can watch Tillis make his full remarks here:
Casting doubt on the Trump administration's vandalism claims, the North Carolina Republican continued:
"You’re telling me—even if it proves to be true [that vandalism is occurring]—that damaging a lining in the reflecting pool is something that Pirro wants to prosecute to the full extent of the law, if it's proven true?"
"And yet, they're releasing people who pled guilty to assaulting a police officer?"
Tillis, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, added:
"I don’t know what’s worse to you, vandalizing a pool or assaulting a police officer? Now we got somebody, let’s say they took a pen knife to a damn pool liner, you’re going to prosecute them for 10 years?
"And you’ve let people that admitted to assaulting a police officer go and think I can take that person seriously? Nuh-uh."
People agree with Tillis' hot take on Pirro's pledge.

Rather than blame the contractor he personally selected and gave a no bid federal contract to, Trump instead turns on tourists flocking to the reflecting pool and accuses them, including a former Olympian, of vandalism.

So 14 have been "charged" with this alleged reflecting pool vandalism. For me. This is still a weak sauce attempt at avoiding accountability so that taxpayers will again be saddled with the cost overruns on another no-bid contract.www.theguardian.com/us-news/live...

NO! NO VANDALISM! Only corrupt no-bid contract to Trump’s buddies. More people arrested for just touching peeling paint at Reflecting Pool than they’ve arrested from the Epstein files. Trump, Claiming Vandalism, Says Reflecting Pool Will Likely Need to Be Drained www.nytimes.com/2026/06/20/u...

Tillis has repeatedly criticized Trump over the riot and insurrection he incited at a rally on January 6, 2021.
The retiring Senator was also an opponent of Trump's pardons for the insurrectionists that injured over 150 members of law enforcement and caused millions of dollars in damages to the Capitol Building.
Trump issued blanket pardons for the rioters on his first day back in office.
