Actor Harrison Ford, who rose to fame with roles in American Graffiti and Star Wars before becoming Indiana Jones, is currently promoting his latest film.

Ford stars in an adaptation of the Jack London book Call of the Wild.

While in Mexico City, Mexico, Ford answered questions from the gathered media on a variety of topics. Eventually the focus turned to the United States' current political climate.

The veteran actor stated:

"We're facing some real pressing issues in America and we're working hard to sort them out."

He added:

"We need to invite people into the country," he said. "Not keep them out. This is the history of America, it depends on immigration."

Ford finished by stating:

"Our position in the world is tenuous because of our lack of moral leadership, basically."

"We lost some of our credibility in the world and we are anxious to regain it."

People agreed with Ford's assessment.

Ford later commented on climate activist Greta Thunberg and the rejection of science by those unqualified to understand it.

Ford said:

"Science is being denigrated. Science is being ridiculed by people in ideological campgrounds. They are refusing the wisdom, the discipline of science in favor of a political point of view and that has to stop."
"I consider the threat of the natural world as the single biggest threat to humanity."

Ford and his wife, actress Calista Flockhart have been activists for the climate for some time.
