In her new book Dying of Politeness: A Memoir, which was released earlier this month, Geena Davis revealed disturbing behavior she endured from fellow Quick Change actor Bill Murray.
Davis just recently opened up to The New Yorker about another incident involving actor Jack Nicholson. Fortunately for Davis, she had previously received some sage advice from Dustin Hoffman.
Davis revealed that after filming a short scene in the 1982 film Tootsie, the star of the movie Dustin Hoffman warned her not to sleep with co-stars.
He offered:
"Say, 'Well, you're very attractive. I would love to, but it would ruin the sexual tension between us.'"
Turns out, that advice came in quite handy shortly after.
Davis shared:
"After 'Tootsie,' my modeling agent took me and a couple of other actor-slash-models to Hollywood to meet casting directors."
"He happened to know Jack Nicholson, and every single night Jack Nicholson had dinner with us."
"Then one day, there was a note under the door that said, 'Please call Jack Nicholson at this number.'"
She continued:
"I was like, 'I can't believe it!'"
"So I said, 'Hello, Mr. Nicholson. This is Geena the model. You called me?'"
"He said, 'Hey Geena. When is this gonna happen?'"
"I was like, 'Oh, no - why didn't I realize this is what it was going to be about?'"
Davis then remembered Hoffman's nugget of wisdom:
"But it immediately came into my head what to say: 'Uh, Jack, I would love to. You're very attractive. But I have a feeling we're going to work together at some point in the future, and I would hate to have ruined the sexual tension between us."
The New Yorker posted a snippet of the interview to Instagram.
Fans commended Davis for her upcoming book, her speaking out about inappropriate behavior, and her reactions to such behavior.

"Oh man, where'd you get that?"
Davis joked:
"So, it worked!"
